I sort'a expected a PETA ad snuck in here. Thank You everyone for not
going that direction. There's enough PC (& not so PC) assault on the
traditions and Holidays in North America without that too.

We had ours last night. Our little tradition.

But at any rate, happy thanksgiving folks.

Not likely.

Wild turkey's don't make for good roasting whole. The drumsticks in the cooked bird pick are not wild turkey drumsticks. Which are generally spindly and small, while the bulk of the body meat is thin and very dry. The breast is usually the only part of the bird used for cooking whole. The rest is best used for sausages or turkey jerky.

A better representation of the average bird used for thanksgiving would be...

From left to right... a typical mass produced broad-breasted white domestic, a blue slate domestic, an auburn domestic and a male broad-breasted white.

Happy turkey day everyone. And a fine day it is too. Sun coming up over the ocean.

Made me think of how our traditions got started back east somewhere. Out here if one was to have a feast there would be smoked salmon, several other types of seafood and a deer or two on the BBQ.
