I'll probably just be watching the fireworks at the London Eye on telly. That's about it. Then go to bed just in time to get up whenever I want to and relax all day, with there being no work on New Year's Day.

Good morning, the world is still here, at least New Zealand is.
So cigarettes have increased in price by 11 1/2% bringing a 30 g package of drum tobacco to $75 Kiwi dollars.
28gms in an ounce, so $50U.S. for an oz.
I remember in the 60s, the herb was 20 buck an ounce.
Thats inflation!
cheers n beers!

For all the perpetually angry & outraged, I wish a more peaceful and placid 2020. May your glass turn out to be (at least) half full.

Here's some of my New Year's Day tipple:

The warming hints of honeyed nectar will spark the intense & sharp gooseberry flames. A refreshingly crisp catch smouldering in citrus aromas that will leave you glowing inside.

Brewed at the Wychwood Brewery in David Cameron's former constituency of Witney, Oxfordshire.

Also from Wychwood, the perfect beer to quench the driest of throats. Malts of the palest hue combined with the magic of Mosaic hops create refreshing fruity aromas and thirst-quenching flavours of sweet citrus and dark berry fruits.

Boyfriend bit nose off during New Year's argument, woman says

WARNING: STORY CONTAINS GRAPHIC IMAGES
Allyson Danylko rang in the new year with an assault after her boyfriend allegedly bit her nose off in a rage.
At first there was the terror and pain of the attack. Then there was the horror that her nose was nowhere to be found when police arrived.
Her fear: Her attacker “ate” the gnawed-off nose.
Danylko told the Toronto Sun she and her boyfriend were at EFS Social Club at King and Bathurst Sts. for New Year’s Eve celebrations when things quickly started going south.
“We were arguing the whole night and he kept leaving the booth and acting weird … he gets very jealous of me,” Danylko said, adding they eventually went back to his Oakville townhouse where the trouble escalated.
Danylko said he was furious she was going on a trip to Costa Rica in two weeks without him.
“He didn’t want me to go on the trip. He was looking at me with a crazy look in his eyes. I was cornered in the bathroom and he was holding me against the wall and I was screaming but he wouldn’t let me go and he bit off my nose,” Danylko alleges.
“I was bleeding and got past him and ran out to a neighbour’s and started banging on their sliding door. It seemed like an eternity, but the police came and put me in an ambulance.”

Halton Regional Police confirm they made a call Jan. 1 at 6:22 a.m. to Danylko’s boyfriend’s residence where a woman had her nose bitten off, but no further details were given as police said they do not comment on alleged domestic abuse issues.
Danylko says police dogs were unsuccessful in trying to find her missing nose.
“He either ate it or flushed it down the toilet,” she alleged.
Danylko says that just months earlier, her boyfriend bit her on the shoulder, leaving a scar.
“I had a restraining order against him but I’m the stupid f***ing girl who took him back,” she said. “He’s the type that can manipulate and get in your head telling you he wants to grow old with you and have kids.”
Danylko has reconstructive plastic surgery scheduled for March that will likely include using part of her ear to rebuild her nose.
A GoFundMe campaign (gofundme.com/f/aswx94-help-allyson-domestic-abuse-survivor) has been set up to help Danylko pay for surgery and her expenses as she recovers away from her job.

Nick Grewal, 30, of Oakville, will be in Milton court on Jan. 28 to face charges of aggravated assault, forcible confinement and failing to comply with probation.
None of the allegations have been proved in court.

Allyson Danylko’s former boyfriend has a history of domestic violence and, most recently, he allegedly chomped off her nose in a rage during New Year’s celebrations.
The New Year’s incident was the second instance of alleged violence in the past seven months between Nick Grewal and Danylko.
Exactly seven weeks earlier, Grewal was conditionally discharged for allegedly choking her with both hands last summer in another booze-fuelled episode at his Oakville home.
In the early morning hours of Aug. 24, 2019, Danylko and Grewal were drunk at his residence, the court hearing was told on Nov. 12, 2019.
Court records indicate she bit his hand after he covered her mouth until she broke free and scrambled to a neighbour’s house.

Grewal, 30, also has a prior absolute discharge for a peace bond on a domestic assault allegation in August 2017 involving another woman in Peel region.
Danylko recently told the Sun’s Kevin Connor she and her boyfriend were ringing in the New Year at EFS Social Club at King and Bathurst Sts. when things started going south.
“We were arguing the whole night and he kept leaving the booth and acting weird … he gets very jealous of me,” Danylko alleged, adding they eventually went back to his Oakville townhouse where the trouble escalated.
Danylko claims Grewal was furious she was going on a trip to Costa Rica without him and bit off her nose.
She later told police, “I can’t believe he stabbed himself to put this on me.”
No stabbing injury was found on him.
Grewal alleged to police he and his lover were engaged in a verbal argument when she pulled out a knife and attacked him.
Grewal, who ended up with a one-inch laceration on his left hand near his thumb and a small scratch on his nose, has claimed he acted in self-defence.

Halton Regional Police confirm officers responded Jan. 1 at 6:22 a.m. to Danylko’s boyfriend’s residence, where they located a woman with her nose bitten off.
Danylko has reconstructive plastic surgery scheduled for March, which will likely include using part of her ear to rebuild her nose.
Grewal is scheduled to appear in Milton court Jan. 28 to face aggravated assault, forcible confinement and failing to comply with probation charges.
None of the allegations have been proved in court.
