If I recollect right, it's the day several hundred thousand men got together with the express intent of murdering each other.
They certainly succeeded.
I suggest you get a dictionary and look up the word "murder".

False dichotomy. You would have rather the world lay down and let Hitler take over? I don't think anybody wants war but sometimes there is no choice in what must be done.
I'll accept "deliberately and with malice aforethought killing another human being who never did you no harm."I suggest you get a dictionary and look up the word "murder".
Hitler and Stalin are dead. Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union and the Japanese Empire no longer exist. The concentration camps that are still standing are museums rather than factories for murder. Jews, homosexuals, gypsies and the mentally ill live without fear of arrest or state sponsored persecution and murder. The world still has its problems but its a much better world now than it was back then.
False dichotomy.
I would rather have had leaders with the brains and guts to not let things get to that point.
As to the rest, it's nonsense. Hitler take over the world? Hitler couldn't even take the Soviet Union. What he did take, he would not have held long.
I'll accept "deliberately and with malice aforethought killing another human being who never did you no harm."
Who are the "your people" Canadians and Americans were defending? Hitler never did anything to Canada or America.First of all, you need to study a little history........Hitler failed to take the USSR because he was fighting in the east (the USSR), defending the coast of France and the lowlands, occupying Norway and Denmark, and fighting in North Africa.............he was over-extended. Eliminate the need to fight against the western allies, and the USSR was probably toast. As it was, he came close.
Why do you think Stalin was desperate for us to open a second front??
Oh, and what you will "accept" has absolutely nothing to do with the proper use of the language. To defend your people against one of the worst evils to stalk this earth is not murder, and you insult every man that took up arms to save your sorry ****.......or that of your father and grandfather.
Hang your head in shame..
To defend your people against one of the worst evils to stalk this earth is not murder,
Who are the "your people" Canadians and Americans were defending? Hitler never did anything to Canada or America.
And I took up arms myself, so I did my part. How 'bout you?

Knew lots of Canadians in my service time. Good guys and gals, did their jobs, disciplined and competent.I was not alive.
Until very recently, Canada fought no war in my lifetime.
You guys? I wasn't even born. Have you wit enough to detect the irony in your last two statements?I guess merchant sailors don't count in your book, huh?? Because the Germans killed lots of them before you guys decided to get in the war.
Ah, declaring yourself the winner. How very. . . tedious.Give it up, Bones....you lose all around in this argument.
I respect your decision to fight for your country, but I doubt your battle was against an evil on anywhere near the scale of Hitler's evil.
What proof would you accept?Where and when did you fight? Start proving it or STFU!

Yeah, the Soviet Union was a land of sweetness and light.
Oh, sorry. Didn't mean to insult your great WWII ally and dear friend.
What proof would you accept?
It is REAL simple....there once was an evil so expansive, so pervasive, so absolutely perverse that the people of the free world had no choice but to stand up, take up arms, and destroy it.
As for Stalin, I will let Churchill speak for me: "If Hitler invaded Hell, I'd find a few good words to say about the Devil."
I fought against the thugocracy of Soviet-led authoritarian socialism, which killed at least ten times as many people as the Nazis did, yet you feel free to insult me.Anyone that does not see the necessity of our war on fascism, or who denigrates and insults those that fought it, is a damned fool.
False dichotomy.

Your certainty of that is emotional, so there's little point in arguing it.If WWII was to be avoided, Hitler would have just annexed places like he did Austria and Czechoslovakia. If you wanted to stop Hitler's advances, you had to go to war. The Allies did, and Hitler was stopped.
As Colpy said, the reason he could not take the Soviet Union is because he was engaged on other fronts. With no opposition, he would have taken the Soviet Union eventually.
Your certainty of that is emotional, so there's little point in arguing it.
That war did not kill Stalin and the comic book Hitler you know about never existed and the Japanese Empire recovered in two decades.
concentration camps proliferate today like at no other time in history. Everything else you wrote can be heard and seen every single day in virtually every western media outlet for thirty years. Guess what, you been lied to. As for your last incorrect point I can hardly blame you for believing that crap. The world has exactly the same problems it always had, the difference between then and now is one of scale and certainly not quality.![]()

So what is the meaning of D-Day? Among the happiest war survivors were the international bankers who arranged it and funded both sides in the bloodshed. The were simply elated. They actually won the war not your long dead grandfather. It's a stupid worn out celebration of mass stupidity.
There was, for the U.S. anyway. It's called "staying out of Europe's problems."No emotions in it at all. I find the period of history fascinating. Seems pretty clear cut what Hitler's ambitions were. You are the one seeming to think there was an alternative that did not involve war. I just don't see it without Hitler winning.
Yep, an "enemy of my enemy" that we strengthened and enabled in slaughtering tens of millions of his own people, and brutalizing and oppressing getting on for a billion outside his country. There is little doubt that Stalin was an Ally of convenience. An enemy of my enemy is my friend sort of logic.
