You mean National Indigenous Peoples Day. Lil Potato couldn't possibly resist the opportunity to change the name, because...you know...it's more reflective of a people who have been here since the beginning of time.

And it makes a good headline.

Happy Old Stock Canadian Racist Day.

You're right. Injuns really need to quit being so damn racist.

So I have seen this story being circled around Facebook. I was doing a paper of Residential Schools for my Indigenous Studies class last semester and found this in the textbook I was using. I took a picture in hopes to put it on social media to get public attention. I wasn't sure if I should have due to Cree protocols but about a few weeks ago I attended a round dance in Moose Jaw and Irene Favel was there being honoured as it was her birthday. The singers sung a birthday song and countless people shook her hand and she had the most beautiful smile on her face.

I am sharing this to bring attention to the traumatic events that happened to our people in Residential Schools. I am a daughter of a residential school survivor. I know there are skeptics out there that don't believe but I hope this reaches them and changes their mind. This is only ONE story from ONE survivor. This happened in a DAY. This probably happened on a daily basis in various residential schools across Canada.
