Shin Bet Arrests Two Israelis Suspected of Involvement in Tel Aviv Suburbs Bus Bombs

The two suspects were detained following the Shin Bet's initial investigation into the incident which occurred on Thursday night in Bat Yam and Holon

Two Israelis were arrested overnight into Friday on suspicion of involvement in the explosions that took place on empty buses in two Tel Aviv suburbs.

The two suspects have been transferred to the Shin Bet security agency for interrogation, though a court has issued a gag order on further details of the affair.

As Gaza cease-fire's first stage nears end, Netanyahu seeks to resume war
All of Israel prepared for heartbreak. Netanyahu prepared an ugly attack

On Thursday night, three explosive devices were set off on buses in Bat Yam and an additional device was found before it detonated in the nearby city of Holon. No casualties were reported. The Israeli army announced that three battalions will be transferred to the West Bank as reinforcements.

Police believe the explosive devices, which weigh less than five kilograms (roughly 11 pounds), were meant to detonate on Friday morning and not on Thursday night.

Bags with Arabic-language writing were found on some of the buses. A police source said that the Arabic writing on one of the bags containing an explosive device said "attack" and "Tul Karm."

The Tul Karm Brigade published a statement Thursday night following the bus explosions: "Revenge for the martyrs will not be forgotten as long as the occupier sits on our land."

Haim Sargrof, Commander of Israel Police's Tel Aviv District, said the explosive devices had timers, much like the ones used in the West Bank. Sargrof further placed blame for the incident on the Shin Bet: "Let's get things straight.. the army stops [terrorists'] entrance [to Israel], the Shin Bet works to prevent attacks and the police [are involved when attacks] happen, and [police] try to take care of the suspects as quickly as possible. How did this happen? Ask the Shin Bet."

Hamas freed six hostages from Gaza on Saturday, the last living Israeli captives slated for release under the first phase of a fragile ceasefire accord, in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and detainees.

The six are the last living hostages from a group of 33 due to be freed in the first stage of the three-phase ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas that took effect on January 19. Sixty-three more captives, less than half of whom are believed to be alive, remain in Gaza.

In return for the hostages, Israel is expected to release 602 Palestinian prisoners and detainees held in its jails.

They will include 445 Gazans rounded up by Israeli forces during the war, as well as dozens of convicts serving lengthy or life terms for attacks that killed dozens of Israelis in the Palestinian uprising two decades ago.

Both sides have said they intend to start talks on a second stage, which mediators say aims to agree the return of all remaining hostages and the full withdrawal of Israeli troops.

I heard on the radio news that the Israelis said one of the corpses Hamas "returned" was not the woman they claimed it was.

"That's not gramma!" wailed a distressed Israeli boy.

"Gramma, schmamma," replied his grandfather. "Dead is dead."

Anger, questions after Canadian terror group leader tweets from Hezbollah funeral
Spadina-Fort York MP Kevin Vuong accused Samidoun leader Charlotte Kates of flaunting Canada's anti-terror laws.

OTTAWA — As Israeli jets roared defiantly over Sunday’s Beirut funeral for a Hezbollah leader, a leader of a Canadian-based terror organization was among those paying tribute to the dead terrorist.

Charlotte Kates, a leader for the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network — considered a terrorist group by the Canadian government — posted tweets from the Beirut sports stadium used for the funeral of Hassan Nasrallah. Killed in an Israeli air strike, he was a founding member of the Lebanese terror group, Hezbollah.

“It is such an honour to be here in Beirut today, one among a sea of over a million people in collective tribute, mourning, love and commitment to the road of resistance and liberation exemplified by Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hisham Safieddine,” Kates posted to X on Sunday morning.

Included in the posted images was a picture of Kates holding a Palestinian flag emblazoned with the Samidoun logo and the antisemitic phrase “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” in Arabic — in front of a crowd waving yellow Hezbollah flags.

It isn’t clear how Kates found herself in Beirut for the funeral.

Reports published Monday in The Jerusalem Post detailed how scores of anti-Israel influencers were invited to attend to funeral as part of a “Global Awakening and Palestine” conference — a Tehran-backed propaganda effort.

The Toronto Sun’s questions to Samidoun regarding their association with the conference were not returned.

As well, inquires to the office of Public Safety Minister David McGuinty went unacknowledged.

A statement provided by the Minister’s office after this story was published said that Samidoun is the “leading front and propaganda organization” of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and noted the “substantial overlap” between the leadership of both organizations.

“Hezbollah has been a designated terrorist entity in Canada since 2002. Ms. Kates clearly does not represent Canada in any official capacity,” the statement concluded.

Other Canada-linked attendees included former Green Party of Canada leadership contender Dimitri Lascaris, who tweeted video of the Israeli flyover.

A notorious presence in North America’s anti-Israel scene, the American-born Kates was arrested — but not charged — in Vancouver last year after praising the Oct. 7 Hamas Israel terror attacks, calling them “heroic and brave.”

While little is known about Kates’ citizenship status in Canada, she met her husband Khaled Barakat — a Palestinian-Canadian — over a decade ago, and both make their home in Vancouver.

Spadina-Fort York MP Kevin Vuong, among Parliament Hill’s most vocal defenders of Israel, accused Kates of flaunting Canada’s anti-terror laws.

“Four months after Samidoun was designated a terrorist organization, Ms. Kates not only proudly continues to serve as their international coordinator, she travels abroad to fly the flag of Samidoun and glorify the leader of Hezbollah, another terrorist organization that has been listed since 2012,” he told the Sun.

“Canada is either governed by rule of law or we’re not. Under the Trudeau government’s watch, Canada has become a safe haven for terror. Their complicity has put Canadians in danger. We must stop being a doormat and start upholding our laws, the Trudeau government can begin with Ms. Kates.”

Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) Pacific VP Nico Slobinsky said all Canadians should be alarmed.

“We need accountability for those who aid and abet terrorism,” said Slobinsky. “This is why our organization has called for the Government of Canada to amend the Criminal Code to explicitly prohibit the glorification of terrorism — something that has already been legislated by our allies Australia, the U.K., and Germany.”

Not every day cops accuse someone of assault with a stuffed animal
But at a counter protest against a vigil for Israeli hostages in Gaza a man was handcuffed after allegedly assaulting a woman

You live by the stuffed animal, you die by the stuffed animal.

Protesters allegedly mocking the murders of dead Jewish kids with dolls and stuffed animals is something Toronto has never seen before. Nor have Toronto Police officers, as far as anybody can recall, laid an assault with a weapon charge before when the alleged weapon was a stuffed rhinoceros/hippopotamus.

Sadly, there is a first time for everything.

“Marco Antonio Munoz, 37, of Mississauga, has been arrested and charged with: assault with a weapon,” said a Toronto Police news release Tuesday. “He is scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice, 10 Armoury St., on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 2 p.m., in room 201.”

Police alleged the man “attended a demonstration” and “approached the opposing group of demonstrators and assaulted a women using a weapon.”

The weapon being referred to there is a kid’s stuffy — a cross between a rhino and a hippo. The accused is to be considered innocent until proven guilty.

None of the allegations have been tested in court but what a trial that could be as the Crown is expected to present an evidence bag — normally containing a gun or a knife — with a stuff animal inside.

While detectives probe this further, the people at this weekly vigil for the remaining hostages in Gaza at the corner of Bathurst St. and Sheppard Ave. had complained to Toronto Police that they perceived stuffed animals — one being a toy cactus wearing an Arab headdress — as something negative directed at the Jewish community.

While there have been allegations of hate crimes with these dramatic props, witnesses say they interpreted this as a weird simulation of the macabre repatriation to Israel from Gaza of slain children, Kfir Bibas, 2, and his brother, Ariel Bibas, 4. They, and their mother, Shiri, were kidnapped at the Nir Oz kibbutz in Israel Oct. 7, 2023, and murdered at the hands of Hamas terrorists.

When their remains were handed over to Israel last week, there were hundreds of Hamas members and supporters making a spectacle of it.

When they were taken, a rhinoceros/hippopotamus stuffed animal was left behind — the same one seen in pictures being clutched by Kfir.

People at that corner Sunday said it looked to them like a reinactment effort of that kidnapping scene — which had tempers flaring and resulted in heated interactions among people on both sides, and with police.

It’s important to say that police have not laid a hate crime in this instance and no charges indicate any connection to what happened in Gaza. But, at the insistence of Jewish participants Sunday, police are on top of this matter and have their eyes and ears open as they investigate.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-3500,” said Toronto Police spokesperson Stephanie Sayer who sent this release out for Det. Pasquale Alberga. “Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), or at 222tips.com.”

Meir Weinstein, of Israel Now, who brought all of this to the police’s attention, said it takes a lot for the regular participants in the weekly hostages vigil to get upset but seeing a woman allegedly assaulted and, what he believes was a “mocking of dead Jewish babies,” was something that crossed the line.

“It was disturbing. I admit I was mad there and I articulated that to the police,” said Weinstein. “But I am thankful that they took it seriously, made an arrest, and are still investigating.”

Advocates for Toronto’s Jewish community are also expressing loudly their concern – the same as they did when pro-Hamas protesters simulated the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and even brought a bloody chair as part of their demonstration.

Things this time took a turn for the worse when someone was allegedly assaulted.

“The fact that a man was arrested after (allegedly) hurling slurs at a Jewish woman, and (allegedly) assaulting her in the heart of Toronto’s Jewish community, is a damning indictment of the climate we now live in,” said Austin Parcels, manager of research and advocacy for B’nai Brith Canada. “This is not an isolated case, but a part of a growing wave of emboldened (alleged) antisemites who believe they can harass and intimidate Jews without consequence.”

Councillor James Pasternak was a witness and told The Toronto Sun at the B’nai Brith Award’s dinner Monday that “the anti-Israel” mob’s signs and props “were disgusting and illegal” and that this was not a “Charter protected gathering but a hate rally targeting community” and that “no minority group should be subjected to this bigotry.”

Michelle Stock, a vice-president with the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) agreed, while reminding that “time and again, we see counter-protests at Bathurst and Sheppard being used not for legitimate expression, but as a means to intimidate, harass, and make Jewish community members feel unsafe in their own neighbourhood.”

As she rightfully states “no one should be subjected to taunts, threats, or acts of aggression simply for being Jewish. This behaviour is unacceptable, and we urge authorities to continue taking strong action to ensure that all residents can go about their daily lives without fear.”

Sadly, Toronto’s reputation as being a safe place for Jews to live peacefully has taken a massive hit since Hamas’ Oct. 7 attacks and this latest incident involving an innocent woman being allegedly struck with a stuffed animal is not going to help that.

Senator demands answers on Canadian terror group leader
Leo Housakos wants to know what measures are being taken to monitor Samidoun head Charlotte Kates

As Israeli jets roared over a Beirut funeral for a Hezbollah leader, a Canadian-based terror group boss paid tribute to the dead terrorist.

OTTAWA — Answers are being sought by a Canadian senator over the activities of the B.C.-based leader of a Canadian terror organization.

In a letter sent Tuesday to Public Safety Minister David McGuinty, Senator Leo Housakos expressed concern over a recent trip undertaken by Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network leader Charlotte Kates to attend Sunday’s funeral of terrorist Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut.

“The presence and activities of individuals linked to designated terrorist organizations, and in this case those leading Canadian listed entities (i.e. Samidoun) within Canada pose significant risks to national security and public safety,” Housakos wrote in his letter, obtained by the Toronto Sun.

“It is crucial that appropriate measures are taken to address these concerns promptly and transparently.”

Housakos outlined three areas of concern: Kates citizenship/immigration status, her international travel, and the failure of the B.C. Prosecution Service to follow through with charges in connection with her arrest last year at a Vancouver anti-Israel hate rally.

“Ms. Kates was arrested in Vancouver in May 2024 for allegedly making pro-terrorism statements during a public demonstration,” Housakos wrote.

“However, it appears that charges have not been laid, and she has been released with certain conditions. The current status of this investigation remains unclear.”

Despite charges being recommended by Vancouver Police, the B.C. Prosecution Service has yet to move forward and so far have provided no reasons.

“This process is continuing and I am unable to provide a timeline for completion,” B.C. Crown spokesperson Damienne Darby told Postmedia last year.

Canada named Samidoun as a terrorist organization last October, due largely to their association and fundraising on behalf of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) — itself declared a terror group in Canada more than two decades ago.

“Despite Samidoun’s terrorist designation, Ms. Kates has repeatedly travelled to the Middle East, including most recently attending a funeral for the former leader of Hezbollah – itself a listed terrorist entity in Canada,” Housakos wrote in his letter.

“This raises concerns about how she was permitted to board international flights and whether adequate measures are in place to prevent individuals associated with terrorist entities from such travel and participation in such events.”

Housakos also expressed concern over ongoing ambiguity over Kates’ citizenship status — the American-born Kates has lived in B.C. with her Palestinian-Canadian husband Khaled Barakat for more than a decade, but it’s not clear if she ever became a Canadian citizen.

“If she has obtained Canadian citizenship, it is imperative to assess whether she was forthcoming about her affiliations during the naturalization process, especially given her leadership role in an organization linked to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a recognized terrorist group,” Housakos wrote.

The senator also asked McGuinty about what steps are being taken by Canadian law enforcement and intelligence services to monitor Kate’s activities.

“Does Ms. Kates’s attendance at this funeral constitute participation in the activity of a terrorist group, contrary to s.83.18(1) of the Criminal Code, thereby committing an offence under s.83.181?” he wrote.

“Does your department agree with this legal assessment? If authorities do not believe her actions constitute an offence under the current law, will you commit to reviewing and amending the legislation to ensure individuals engaged in such activities can be prosecuted appropriately?”

Illinois landlord guilty of murder, hate crime in 2023 attack on Palestinian American boy

JOLIET, Ill. — A jury found an Illinois landlord guilty of murder and hate crime charges Friday for a brutal 2023 attack on a Palestinian American family that killed a 6-year-old.

Joseph Czuba, 73, was charged in the fatal stabbing of Wadee Alfayoumi and the wounding of his mother, Hanan Shaheen on Oct. 14, 2023 in Plainfield, about 40 miles (64 kilometers) from Chicago. Authorities alleged the family — who were renting rooms in Czuba’s house — was targeted because of their Islamic faith and as a response to the war between Israel and Hamas that erupted on Oct. 7, 2023.

Jurors deliberated less than 90 minutes over the crime that renewed fears of anti-Muslim discrimination in the Chicago area’s large and established Palestinian community.

“I don’t know if I should be pleased or upset, if I should be crying or laughing,” Wadee’s father, Odai Alfayoumi, said at a news conference, speaking in Arabic. “People are telling me to smile. Maybe if I were one of you, I would be smiling, but I’m the father of the child and I’ve lost the child. And I feel like this decision came to a little too late.”

Ben Crump, the national civil rights attorney representing Shaheen, released a statement calling the verdict a “measure of justice.”

“Wadee was an innocent six-year-old child whose life was stolen in an act of unimaginable violence fueled by hatred,” the statement added. “While we are relieved that his killer has been held accountable, we must continue to stand against the rising tide of hate that led to this senseless act. We must honor Wadee’s memory by continuing to fight against hate in all its forms and working toward a future where every child is safe, valued, and free from violence.”

Crump asked that the media continue respecting Shaheen’s privacy as she honors her son’s memory.

Shaheen did not speak at a press conference following the jury decision. Ahmed Rehab, executive director of the civil rights group Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR-Chicago, said it was too difficult for her and added that she “only prays for peace and love.”

The trial featured detailed testimony from police officers, medical workers, Czuba’s ex-wife and Shaheen, who described how Czuba attacked her with a knife before going after her son in a different room. Prosecutors say that the child had been stabbed 26 times. He was found naked with a knife still in his side.

Graphic photos of the murder, a knife holder Czuba allegedly used that day, along with police video footage were central to the Will County prosecutors’ case. At times video screens showing explicit footage were turned away from the public viewing audience where members of Wadee’s family sat during the trial.

“If it wasn’t enough that this defendant killed that little boy, he left the knife in the little boy’s body,” Michael Fitzgerald, a Will County assistant state’s attorney, told jurors during opening statements.

Czuba’s attorney, George Lenard, declined comment Friday afternoon. Czuba had pleaded not guilty. He faced murder, attempted murder, aggravated battery and hate crime charges in an eight-count indictment.

According to the Will County Circuit Clerk’s office, Czuba is scheduled for sentencing on May 2.

Defense attorneys insisted pieces of evidence tying Czuba to the crimes were missing. His ex-wife, testifying for the prosecution, could only describe one outburst during their 30 years of marriage and said he carried knives often because he was handy around the house.

“Go beyond the emotions to carefully examine the evidence,” said Kylie Blatti, one of Czuba’s public defenders. “It is easy to get lost in the horror of those images.”

One of the critical parts of the trial was Shaheen’s testimony and the 911 call she made to report the crime that happened just days after the war started. She said they had not previously had any issues in the two years they rented from the Czubas. They shared a kitchen and living room with the Czubas.

Then after the start of the war, Czuba told her that they had to move out because Muslims were not welcome. Later, he confronted Shaheen and attacked her, holding her down, stabbing her and trying to break her teeth.

“He told me ‘You, as a Muslim, must die,” said Shaheen, who testified in English and Arabic though a translator.

Shaheen had more than a dozen stab wounds and it took her weeks to recover. The boy was later pronounced dead.

Police testified that officers found Czuba outside the house sitting on the ground with blood on his body and hands.

Separately, civil lawsuits have been filed over the boy’s death, including by his father, Alfayoumi, who is divorced from Shaheen and was not living with them at the house.

The case, which generated headlines around the world, comes amid rising hostility against Muslims and Palestinians in the U.S. since Hamas attacked Israel in October 2023. The U.S. Department of Justice also launched a federal hate crimes investigation.

“All of us who are parents, who are Arab or Palestinian … who are Muslim, we all saw our children die in Wadee Alfayoumi, because this could have been any one of our boys, any one of our girls,” CAIR-Chicago’s Rehab said. “It just so happened that it was Wadee Alfayoumi. When he was targeted, all of our children were targeted. Every Muslim was targeted when he (Czuba) yelled, ‘All Muslims must die.”‘

Netanyahu Dismissed Shin Bet Chief's Warning of War in Gaza Five Months Before Hamas Attacked on Oct 7
(of course he did)

In May 2023, Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Israel could not avoid Hamas as a 'challenge at its doorstep' and should prepare for 'an opening blow' against the group. Netanyahu dismissed this argument, insisting that Hamas was deterred

Five months before Hamas' October 7 invasion of Israeli communities near the Gaza border, Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of a future military campaign in Gaza – an admonition that Netanyahu rejected, Haaretz has learned.

In their meeting on May 21, 2023, following the conclusion of Operation Shield and Arrow, in which the IDF operated against the Islamic Jihad in Gaza, Bar told the prime minister that the operation was "the first round against the Shi'ite axis. Time will tell as far as the deterrence goes. We should prepare for an opening blow, for a round of targeted assassinations. Hamas is the next challenge at our doorstep," adding that an operation in Gaza would be "unavoidable."

Netanyahu disagreed and argued that Hamas was deterred, telling Bar that Israel had "a strong balance of fear with Hamas."

Bar also referred to the tensions pervading the West Bank at the time – following a wave of terror attacks orchestrated by Hamas in Gaza – arguing that the question of launching a campaign against Hamas "will confront us either as a result of a broad operation in Judea and Samaria [West Bank] or as a result of something else."

Revoke her passport, and let her stay in that third world shithole.
She’d be back as a refugee so fast, it would make your head spin, and her new passport might even have your name on it.

She apparently has no problem globe hopping all over the place, so I don’t think that’s much of a deterrent. Record-keeping through the Middle East is notoriously Shoddy.

If in doubt, take the first four names of the first four Middle Eastern leaders you can think of off the top of your head, and confirm their dates of birth and location of birth…& I bet you at least two of the four will have conflicting information.

Georgina Mayor dismisses calls to rename Keswick community after Gaza
Letter demands town rename Keswick community of Balfour Beach as 'Gaza Beach,' citing Arthur Balfour's ties to establishment of Israel

Author of the article:Bryan Passifiume
Published Mar 06, 2025 • Last updated 12 hours ago • 2 minute read

OTTAWA — Efforts by anti-Israel activists to rewrite history in a small community on Lake Simcoe have been rebuffed by the town.

A letter sent last week to the Georgina town council called on the municipality to rename the community of Balfour Beach in Keswick to “Gaza Beach,” as the letter-writer was clearly uncomfortable with the associations to the British politician who supported the establishment of a Jewish homeland.

“I propose renaming Balfour Beach to better reflect the values of fairness, inclusivity and community that I believe our town stands for,” read the letter, recommending council rename the community “Gaza Beach” as well as “acknowledge and address” the supposed historical implications” that come with the name.

The letter implied an unnamed town councillor was receptive to the proposal.

Authored by former foreign secretary Arthur Balfour and issued by the British government in 1917, the Balfour Declaration proffered British support for a national Jewish homeland, and became a core tenet in the British Mandate for Palestine, eventually leading to the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948.

Despite the request gaining traction in some anti-Israel circles, town council saw no merit in the suggestion.

“I want to make it clear to the residents of Georgina that I do not support this proposal, there is no intention to consider this proposal, and I know that my Council colleagues, including local Councillor (Dave) Neeson feel the same way,” read a statement posted online by Georgina Mayor Margaret Quirk.

A town spokesperson declined to comment further on the matter.

Letter to Georgina town council
Canada has experienced an explosion of antisemitism since the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas terror attacks, which saw hundreds of Palestinian terrorists unleash a campaign of murder, kidnapping and sexual assault on dozens of Israeli communities.

Anti-Israel activists have used the attacks to justify a regular series of demonstrations, rallies and intimidation marches — often in Toronto’s Jewish neighbourhoods and communities.

Michelle Stock, Ontario vice-president with the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), commended the town for their prompt response.

“Mayor Quirk and the council acted responsibly by rejecting an attempt to inject unnecessary controversy into the community,” she said. “Their clear stance ensures that local spaces remain places of unity rather than division.”

B’nai Brith Canada’s Austin Parcels said renaming Balfour Beach is yet another attempt by activists to import a foreign conflict into Canada, and is a direct attack on Jewish identity.

“(Arthur Balfour) supported the Jewish people’s right to live in their indigenous homeland,” he said. “Erasing his name is a deliberate effort to undermine that history and delegitimize Jewish self-determination.”

LONDON — Pro-Palestinian activists said Saturday they have vandalized one of U.S. President Donald Trump’s golf resorts in Scotland in response to his proposal to empty the Gaza Strip of its Palestinian population.

Activists targeted Trump’s Turnberry golf course and hotel in southwest Scotland overnight, painting “Gaza Is Not For Sale” in giant letters on the lawn and using red spray paint on the club house’s exterior wall.

The group Palestine Action said it “rejects Donald Trump’s treatment of Gaza as though it were his property to dispose of as he likes.”

“To make that clear, we have shown him that his own property is not safe from acts of resistance,” it said in a statement.

Police Scotland said it received a report of damage to the golf course in the early hours of Saturday, and that inquiries are ongoing.

Trump Turnberry called the activism a “childish, criminal act” and said it will ensure it does not affect its business.

The future of Gaza is uncertain as the first phase of a ceasefire that paused the 15-month war between Israel and Hamas ended with no clarity on what would come next because the agreement’s second phase has not yet been hammered out.

Meanwhile, Trump has called for Gaza’s population to be resettled elsewhere permanently so that the United States can take over the territory and develop it for others. Palestinians have roundly rejected calls to leave.

Turnberry is one of 10 courses on the rotation to host the British Open, the oldest of the four major championships in men’s golf.

However, it hasn’t staged the event since Trump bought the course in 2014 and renovated several holes.

In November, Martin Slumbers, who at that time was the chief executive of British Open organizer the R&A, said there were no immediate plans for the event to return to Turnberry.
