Concealed Carrier Kills Armed Robber In East Houston

An Houston robber won the “Room Temperature Challenge” yesterday when he attempted to rob an employee walking to the entrance of a check cashing store. The robber apparently thought that the bag the employee had under his arm as he walked to the store was a money bag.

It wasn’t.

Officers were called to the Ruiz Cash n Carry store in the 1700 block of Sgt. Macario Garcia at Ave Q around 8:30am this morning.

Police say the store employee was about to enter into the store with a bag under his arm when a man approached him from behind and pointed a gun at him, demanding the bag, possibly thinking there was cash inside.

The employee, who also had a concealed handgun license was able to turn to his own gun, pull it out and fire four shots at the man. Two or three of those shots hit the man in the chest area.

“From what I gather is that when the employee went to open the door, the gun was already put at the back of his head, and so, I don’t know what words were exchanged, but at this point the investigation is still ongoing, they’re still talking to him (the store employee) and he turned around and saw the suspect had a gun.”

The employee—who was only carrying a toiletries bag with is medications inside—is incredibly lucky. He didn’t know the armed robber was there until he was in a very bad position with a gun to the back of his head, and yet somehow not only was able to access and draw his own concealed handgun and fire off four shots, but he also hit the bad guy center-mass with 2-3 of them without the bad guy getting off a single shot of his own.

The bad guy died where he fell.

We’d never recommend attempting to draw your weapon when someone already has the drop on you, unless you are almost certain that the robber is going to attempt to kill you anyway and you don’t have the option to or ability to run. That said, this is the second defensive gun use we’ve read about this year (the attempted pharmacy robbery in West Virginia was the other one) where a concealed carrier draw his weapon and defeated an armed robber who already had the drop on him.

Once again, a concealed carrier has ended the career of an armed robber and the mainstream media (not including the local stations) refuses to even consider the theory that armed citizens thwart crimes.

It’s a good thing that we know better, isn’t it?

No use arguing with me...... I did not write the article.
Agreed. There is no need to think that I'm arguing with you specifically. You posted an article, and I'm responding to the text in the article.

Hitler made the firearm restrictions against Jews, even stronger but loosened them for everyone else, after all his goal was to exterminate the whole race.
So even you know the motivation behind firearm restrictions.

My logic is impeccable, when you consider, I am still alive and since I have spent 4- 5 months in Florida, every year since 1989. This is because when going into foreign territory, I minimize the risks. You know, like not flashing money around, wearing valuable jewelry in poor areas or countries, do not insult or confront natives, staying out of dark alleys at night, check to see who is at the door before opening it, not going to a lonely bank machine at night, or walking alone in a known trouble spot. Making friends with neighbors and being a good one myself.

Sounds like you have it all figured out without firearms restrictions targeting lawful citizens.

Northern Ontario,
Sounds like she is just minimizing the risk and and counting heavily on luck....
And counting on anecdotal evidence to prove a point..
Most of us would do the exact same thing, even while carrying a firearm, the gun is just insurance.
I always drive defensively.....but I also have insurance...not because It's the law but because it makes sense.....same for house insurance.... and I have yet to file a claim on either of them!

hants of "no equity, no peace, no supremacist police" reverberated through the lanes of Baltimore Saturday amid a walk that coordinators charged as a "triumph rally" a day after a prosecutor charged six officers included in the capture of a man who passed on in police guardianship.

wherever i sit down my ars
I don't know much about guns. My step dad had one of those rugars or lugars something like that. It was a pistol that held 22 shells. One time when I was a kid a low life was using his fist on my sister and I got the gun and pointed it at the bastard. Another time a different low life scumbag was terrorizing my sister and I had my step dads 16 gauge browning shotgun pointed out the front window at that prick. Both times the slime slithered away. I wonder how it would have affected me as a kid if I had pulled the trigger. I'm sure the shotgun probably would have slammed my shoulder pretty good. I hate the damn things.

Re: Gun Control is Completely Useless. ??

I got considering the request of the opposition to weapon people that we would prefer not to be similar to the AMERICANS, with no firearm control, and blood running in the lanes! I had perused that murder was so high in American ghettoes that it skewed national figures, as (clearly) there could be social foundations for homicide in those circumstances.........SOOOOOO

Very interesting. It seems the blogger you linked to has recreated my original post in the thread Gun Control is Completely Useless almost word for word. Interesting. Is that your blog??

Northern Ontario,
I'm just wondering if the second, third, fourth and fifth victim would tell you that they wished someone else shooting at the murderer after the first victim was hit, shouldn't carry a gun........

So whipping out a gun in a crowd is good idea?? I imagine the shooter is not just standing still, what about all the people in the line of fire?? Also how does one get a sniper on a roof top with a hand gun?? And you people think I am illogical!! Remember these are MASS shootings.

Now ...it's snipers......<shakes head>....who the hell is illogical now.......
How do you know none of them were snipers?? Oh and how does carrying a hand gun protect a spouse and children when the gun wielding nut is the other spouse?? Read some of those shootings, after all there are ONLY 4 months worth on that list.

What are you going on about? Don't you know that armed citizens have a higher kill rate, and a lower error rate than law enforcement?
