The hunter didn't hunt human, it was the criminal that he stopped that was the predator.
The hunter merely used his civic rights to save the life of a law enforcement officer.
You clearly need to work on your reading skills.
Perhaps you understand but you have a problem with that?
If he shot and killed another human being like that in this country, a court might find him to be a criminal.

Interesting to look at Canadian gun stats since Harper scrapped the long gun registry.

Amazing increase in gun violence.

Coincidence?

On the never-ending prattling about gun laws not being effective - the truth is that in fact gun laws work.

"There was a study, for example, published in a very well-respected epidemiological journal in 2016 by researchers that did a survey of 130 different studies about the effectiveness of different types of gun control restrictions," said Lee.

"One of the core findings that they came away with was that gun bans tend to have a very good effect in terms of reducing gun violence rates. So this is not political posturing. This is social science at work. This is researchers surveying 130 peer-reviewed articles and coming away with this conclusion."

Good if we ban guns do the police , customs , conservation officers et al give up theirs . How about armoured vehicle guards or plain personal security are they ok ? And don’t forget aboriginals do they not have traditional hunting rights ? How about residents of northern towns like Churchill Manitoba where polar bears roam through town ?

........reducing gun violence rates.

The use of this phrase, as always, demonstrates the existence of an anti-gun agenda. It means they are lying.

Now, lets prove it. For comparison, rates of the countries usually under discussion on this thread:

Canada: Licensing, background checks, strict controls. Number 7 in the list of gun owning countries, with 34 guns per 100 people. Murder rate: 1.68 per 100,000. Firearm deaths: 2.05 per 100,000

United States: myriad laws by state, relatively lax. Number 1 in the list of gun owning countries, with 34 guns per 100 people.
Murder rate: 5.35 per 100,000 Firearm deaths: 11.96 per 100,000

Now let us look at the worst countries on earth:

El Salvador: Licensing, background checks, strict. Number 72 in the list of gun owning countries, with 12 guns per 100 people. Murder rate: 82.84 per 100,000. Firearm deaths: 45.6 per 100,000

Honduras: Registration, background checks. Number 55 in the list of gun owning countries, with 14 guns per 100 people.

Murder rate: 56.52 per 100,000. Firearm deaths: 60 per 100,000

Venezuela. Firearm possession banned in 2013. Number 35 in the list of gun owning countries, with 18 guns per 100 people.
Murder rate:56.33 per 100,000 Firearms deaths: 49.22 per 100,000

Jamaica: Licensing, registration, very strict. Number 92 in the list of gun owning countries, with 1 gun per 100 people.Murder rate:47.01 per 100,000 Firearms deaths: 30.72 per 100,000

There's some facts for you. Kinda blows your contention up, doesn't it?

My contention is simply to quote Canada's leading authority on urban violence who is simply saying:

You're in good company. . .

In 1785 Thomas Jefferson wrote to his fifteen-year-old nephew, Peter Carr, regarding what he considered the best form of exercise: "... I advise the gun. While this gives a moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprize, and independance to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks."

Ah, but I hear them say "It's NECESSARY to ban guns to protect people!" Hmm. . . yes. . . I suppose. . .

"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves."
- William Pitt (the Younger), Speech in the House of Commons, November 18, 1783

But. . . but. . . the Second Amendment is out of date! We don't NEED militias anymore! We have the National Guard!

"The Constitution shall never be construed to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms."
- Samuel Adams, Massachusetts Ratifying Convention, 1788

Y'all getting the feeling we had this debate before?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the United States Constitution makes reference to a well armed and WELL REGULATED MILITIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So yeah- the National Guard DOES FIT the right to bear arms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But oh dear- the gang banger protecting his turf from other morons DOES NOT fit the ideal of WELL REGULATED MILITIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely right ... except, at the beginning of the 2nd World War, the RCN escorts on this side of the Atlantc were under command of the US Navy for a short time early in the War.

OH THERE IS ABSOLUTE BULLSH+T FROM NOT SO CURIOUS CDN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The RCN went into WW2 with half a dozen ancient destroyers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cdn military preparation was so limited that Ottawa -in the person of LIE-beral prime minister Mackenzie King simply turned over RCN control to the Royal navy and asked "tell us how we can help????????????????

A BRITISH ADMIRAL RAN things in the western half of the Atlantic until RCN complaints about discrimination against Cdns prompted King to send a CANADIAN to take charge of convoys in western Atlantic in 1943!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Until 1942- Yankee naval activity in Atlantic was limited to signalling RN or RCN whenever they spotted a submarine!!!!!!!!!!!!

King was forced to suck up BIG TIME to the Brits- and to angry Cdns because of his previous grossly ill considered remarks about Hitler!!!!!!!!!!!

In 1936 - King actually travelled to Munich and MET -one on one with Hitler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

King also met with Winston Churchill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

King then returned to Canada to tell parliament that "Hitler was a dour but basically good man, bringing some much needed hope and discipline to the German people"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

King went on to scorn the idea of wasting time and money building up the Cdn military and he sneered at Winston Churchill as a war monger and rabble rouser!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is why so many Cdns and others went to war after hurried training with CRAP WEAPONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In 1936 the British high command recognized that the British Army as then constituted COULD NOT SURVIVE ON A MODERN BATTLE FIELD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the PANIC STRICKEN POLITICIANS BURIED THE REPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Churchill`s party WAS DUMPED OUT OF OFFICE before anything could be done and the LABOUR PARTY TOOK OVER for the next 3 years - until after the invasion of Poland- at which point Churchill got called up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Labour Party KNEW of the weaknesses in Brit defense and ignored them and instead pursued the fruitless attempts to BRIBE Hitler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for the Yankees - most of their best naval people got sent off to the Pacific in early 1942!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The slaughter of Yankee cargo ships by German subs IN SIGHT of the Atlantic shore in 1942 got so bad that Germans referred to that slaughter of their enemies as the "happy time"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In 1942 -USN Atlantic Command was so inept they needed escorts of RCN and RN vessels to help them in their HOME WATERS in the early stages of their war!!!!!!!!!!!!

USN was so disorganized that they failed to enforce black outs along the coast -with German navigators using city lights as aids to location!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Things were so bad that Intrepid- Sir William Stephenson - had the unpleasant task of briefing the President regarding the amount of diesel fuel that Yankee Standard Oil Co. was shipping to Vichy French Islands in the CARRIBEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes- in many ways - Yankees were so unprepared for war that it took A LONG TIME to persuade them that the huge jump in diesel oil sales to Vichy France was NOT HELPING THE WAR EFFORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That the Vichy French- who had SURRENDERED to Germany were actually FUELING U-boats with Yankee diesel well into 1942!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are a silly twat.

And yet you simply CANNOT beat me in an argument!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How sad for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alright now bonesfor brains................go ahead and splutter out some irrelevant nonsense that will make you feel a little better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But will not disguise the failure of your lame rebuttal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

... and we emerged from the War with the third biggest surface fleet in the World ... which is quite ridiculous for a country of 13 million to sustain and the RCN demobbed faster than the Kriegsmarine did.

Well yes- but that crazy man King was in charge and of course NO LIE-beral will ever waste money on the military!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Our idiot Boy Justin gets re-elected in October- then we can be guaranteed he will KILL the contracts for buying ships and fighter planes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LIE-berals despise the military -always have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Richard Malone was a reporter for the Winnipeg Free Press in 1939- and he was also a 2nd Lieutenant in the Cdn Militia so defense minister Ralston made him his aid and Malone got a good look at the political side of things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In 1941 King was in England and wanted to "review' the troops................but the officers considered that a BAD IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

King was so hated by the military that the officers were afraid to let King get too close!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So they arranged for the short and tubby King to be surrounded by very tall officers on the podium and then had the troops pass in review in their vehicles- at HIGH SPEED so they would not be so likely to recognize and react badly to King!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that was only because many UK ships were flagged to us for the war and of course Canada commandeered all the civilian shipping for the merchant navy

He is a Sociology professor, which means he is not an expert on anything. I never took a sociology course in my life, but I made money as an undergraduate writing essays for Sociology students (mostly in business degrees) off the top of my head. It is not a serious discipline.

BTW, yes, they got good marks.

Oh....garbage stats. Fair enough, I forgot to list sources:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estimated_number_of_civilian_guns_per_capita_by_country

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate

As for the gun laws by country, I just googled "gun laws (country)"
