Predictions for the next 4 years:

1 - with Obama gone, and Trump here, the sales of firearms will slow down a bit. Hopefully, store inventory shortages will disappear and prices somewhat return to normal.

2 - with Trudeau here, expect the Canadian laws to get more red tape and hoops added to firearm ownership.

3 - in the US, expect more lefties to join the NRA as they shift their loyalties away from gov toward individual rights. consider this a short term trend as they will return to supporting gov when the democrats are re-elected. it is in the nature of a lefty to seek a gov solution to all of life's problems.

Don't be silly, despite changes in favor or against gun control, the US stats have been slowly improving over the past decades. Which suggests that gun control isn't the driving factor....correction: it isn't a factor.

True, 11% of the US are veterans, but you are wrong if you are implying that this demographic is the sole problem with crime in the USA. In fact, I'd be interested in seeing the stats on this, I suspect that vets are more likely to be outstanding citizens than their neighbors.

I don't blame Obama, instead I give him credit for selling more firearms in his past two terms than the NRA would have.
Geez I surely wish you would actually look up the stats yourself, Where do you get yours?? Take a look at those falling gun homicides and injures -
https://everytownresearch.org/gun-violence-by-the-numbers/

Where did I say veterans were the SOLE problem,,,,in fact, I listed many good reasons why the US's laws are not up to snuff.

I notice tonight locally where I winter, a gun store was broken into last night ....they simply kicked in the glass cage and made of with 40 guns mostly hand guns!! This despite the owner being warned a month ago that his merchandise was not properly secured, Oh and this is the second such store that has been vandalized in the last month. I guess this makes 80 more guns in the hands of criminals. Cam you honestly say the same thing has happened or can happen in Canada?

So now Obama is personally selling guns?? If you are referring to all those macho (NOT) persons rushing out to purchase more guns when there is even a hint of better gun laws are suggested, I don't blame Obama either, Just the dimwits who are driven by fear of their neighbors that are stupid enough to do this. Never mind that they haven't a clue which end of a gun to point,

So that's 4 incidents in 12 years...Oh my we must take all the guns away from the people.

I guess the correct follow up question would be how many of those guns were lawfully owned by law-abiding citizens?

That's four incidents in twelve years in Alberta, where a small fraction of Canadians live (a larger fraction of the guns, though)

Actually it's 3 in Alberta. Golden is in BC.

So 3 incidents in 12 years where there is the largest gun ownership...hmmm...definitely a statistic to warrant making gun ownership totally illegal.

He was probably from Wetaskewin.
Lol!

Did you even read the article? The same gun without the maple leaf etched in the pistol grip and without the words "Molon Labe" inscribed is not prohibited. It is a direct attack on those who believe in our right to own firearms. Some who may have purchased this special edition may not even know the significance.

It's not a right. It is a privilege granted by the Crown. It is a right in the USA, though so you can always move to Billings, I suppose and be free-ish..

Again with the socialist liberal statements. LOL!

Just because the wrote down some rule does not mean it isn't a right. I have a human right to feed and protect my family and protect my property. Their rule simply tries to take that right away then sell it back to me. There is a reason most of what I own isn't registered and never will be.

You're bogged down with this bullshyte Yankee stuff. By the way, keeping a couple of loaded firearms around the house is bizarrely stupid as well as illegal. If you think that you can blow away an intruder without being charged in this country, you are quite wrong.

I'll take my chances with a jury if it ever comes to that. Hopefully it never will. I would rather not have to shoot at a person but that doesn't mean I won't if circumstances require it. I'm not gonna die or go to hospital severely injured because some liberals think a criminal has rights to commit crimes without me defending against it.

Perhaps you do, but it is done much more efficiently and safely without a gun, The gun culture uses this excuse without following such an idea to it's conclusion, It is a very slippery slope from protection of one's family to this sort of mentality:- Indoctrination into such a culture leads to believing that one must use a gun to get what is wanted, even when it is not deserved, i.e.,:

"
The Associated Press
Published Thursday, January 12, 2017 11:43PM EST
NEW YORK -- A 12-year-old New York City boy is accused of pulling a gun on a classmate and demanding that she give him her chicken nugget.
Police say the boy first approached the girl inside a McDonald's in Harlem on Tuesday and asked her for one of her Chicken McNuggets. When the girl refused, police say the boy followed her as she walked to a nearby subway station and pointed a gun at her head, demanding that she give him a nugget.
Police say the girl smacked the gun away and told the boy to leave her alone.
The girl reported the incident to school officials the next day and the boy was taken into police custody for attempted robbery. The gun was not found, and it's unclear if it was real."

Since the gun has disappeared what are the odds it was real and not a toy?? Pretty high I'm betting,
