Sometimes they are iron, another time they are nickel and still another time a nickel-iron alloy
No, that's wrong, look it up. They're generally 90 to 95% iron, with the rest being nickel and traces of other heavy metals, but sometimes the nickel content can be much higher.

Did iron come down or not?

If you're going to argue semantics, you'll have to expect the same in return.

So if you're going to argue that iron came out of the sky - regardless of nickle content - then it's just as legitimate to argue that Allah did not know about nickle when he got Mohammad to create the Quran.

Do not evade the answer to the question: did iron come down or not?

(84. Say [Mohammed] "We believe in God [alone, and we do not associate anything with Him],
and in what [revelation] has been sent down to us,
and [the revelation] sent down to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, the Patriarchs [: sons of Prophet Jacob]
and what [books and miracles] Moses and Jesus [received from their Lord]
and what [revelations and evidences] the prophets received from their Lord;
we make no discrimination between anyone of them,
and to Him we have submitted [ourselves.]"

85. Anyone seeks any religion, other than the Islam, [his righteous work] will not be accepted from him [because the past religions were altered], and [in the Hereafter] he will be of those who lose [the prosperity of Paradise. ])
Quran 3: 84-85.

God or Allah knows everything, and Mohammed did not write or read: he was illiterate.
Ign'ant, too!
But people did not know the word Nickel at that time, and the Quran is correct by telling the iron came down from the sky.
"People" didn't know the word "iron" at the time either. Not in Arabic countries.

"Iron" is English.

Kinda like "dipshit."

The Quran was not revealed in English; it was revealed in Arabic; the word iron is the meaning of the word "Hadeed" which is the Arabic word in the Quran.
In the Quran: Alexander of Macedon (or Zul Qarnain) made an alloy of iron and copper to make a smooth unpenetrable dam.
And Prophet David made the shields of iron by making rings of iron attached to each other in the form of a coat of mail. And God commanded him to tighten the rings of the coat of mail.
