My problem with people like Beck is he lucks in occasionally to a bit of truth, where that and his political agenda happen to intersect. As with the original post's characterization of Global Warming as complete fraud, and the institutional inquisition and isolation (from tenure, research grants, publication), that has been imposed on people like Prof. Ball, for revealing the fabric of lies, fear mongering and financial interests (notably in the cornering of the 'carbon credits' market) that propels it.

My problem with Beck is he's just a mouthpiece for the the neoconservative lobby, that labels all government agency, from health care, to financial regulation, to limitation of carbon emissions.. as communism. I worry that the mercenary origins of his advocacy would be used to discredit the few valid things he supports.

Hey now. Nobody here is making accusations. This girls rape and murder case has been without conviction for a long time now. It would be wrong to speculate and wonder if Glen Beck raped and murder that girl back in 1990.

Are you kidding me? Professor Ball taught for 23 years at a university. There was no imposed isolation, or he would not have been named a Professor. He did publish, just not very much. There are other researchers and professors, so called skeptics who claim similar things to that of Tim Ball, and they haven't suffered a loss of grants, or tenured position. Some are very prominent in their field, like Richard Lindzen and Roy Spencer. Ball just happens to be prominent only for what he's done after his days of teaching, including a frivolous libel lawsuit.

The few brave souls who question AGW are those who received tenure before the freeze on independent thought, and the political orthodoxy descended on the so called 'free inquiry' of the university establishment. So you say, but then you probably wouldn't know the difference between a serious research question that does question global warming, and one that does but isn't very serious. You've certainly never given any hint otherwise. You spew out talking points like a politician.

Nature doesn't even publish that many articles on the topic of global climate change. Nature Geoscience does, but most articles in journals like Nature and Science are more like extended abstracts. Though a lot of seminal contributions do tend to end up there. That's because the editors at those journals have a inclination to preserve the reputation for good science those journals enjoy.

Serious and heavy science, with all the gritty details appears in field relevant journals like Geophysical Research Letters, The Cryosphere, Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, Earth and Planetary Science Letters, and many others.
