What Dear Neil forgot to mention was that the soldiers had just been in a fight, and that all the people in the mosque were militants (or had been warned to leave, or be treated as hostiles), that the soldiers did not know the man was unarmed...It is leftist propaganda, pure and simple

Um... no Colpy, I don't think so. With all due respect, and I generally do respect what you post even when I don't agree with it (you're obviously a thoughtful intelligent person), I think you're spinning this one to suit your prejudices. A man who can be accurately described by "That one's playing dead" is lying still on the floor. If they didn't know he was unarmed, then obviously his hands were not in a position that made it obvious, and if that's the case, he couldn't have moved a weapon into position quickly enough to be a threat to an alert, well-armed soldier. Therefore it was not necessary to shoot him.

Any of you ever bothered to watch Radio-Canada, the francophone equivalent to CBC? It's quite interesting to notice the similarities and differences.

Personally, I think both CBC and Radio-Canada offer good television, whatever political side they lean on (left or right, federalist or sovereignist. For you anglophone Canadians, only having CTV and Global as Canadian television would simply be sad and PATHETIC; you'd might as well say there is no such thing as Canadian television. You can be thankful a channel like CBC offers Canadian content.

I'd be very curious to know how much money goes in Radio-Canada compared to CBC. I'm pretty sure Radio-Canada gets a LOT more common viewers than CBC. What does that tell you?

Here in Quebec we also have Télé-Québec which is (under)funded by the government. Doesn't treat its audience like a bunch of morons.

I's a Bluenoser, Baby!
In dire need of some anti-depressants. Weirdly obsessed with movies based in central canada during the depression. I don't know why, they just are.
Great potential but not a good reflection or voice of canada... which in my opinion it should be, considering how much they receive from the federal government in funding.

Needs to be more diverse in its sports casting.

It use to have great new, but its becoming more sound-bite driving everyday. CBC Newsworld just stinks.
Good political satire & general comedy, but need to desperately work harder on developing some sitcom & non-depressive hourly dramas

Love their website, tho

In short, a great value but in need of help and some modern vision

CBC Radio is really aimed at a specific audience, and conservatives ain't it! :)

Now, I could go on about CBC Radio news the day before an old election,,,,,,where the broadcaster repeated the line "Reform is the Party of Racists and Bigots" while supposedly reporting on a story that was over 6 months old.....but why bother?

Today I listened to Cross Canada Checkup. I really like Rex Murphy.

Today the first hour was to be taken up by people calling to discuss any issue they wished in the election campaign, and the second hour was reserved for questions for their guest Stephan Dion..........I actually like him too.....

The audience though!!!!! OMG!!!!! :)

I thought between 35 and 40% of this nation's people support the Conservatives. Well, in the first hour, there were dozens of callers. They ranged from mildly disgusted with the Conservatives to foaming-at-the-mouth rants accusing Harper of being Bush's clone.

Not a single Conservative supporter.

Finally, at 6:20, one hour and 20 minutes into the show, a trucker from out west challenged Dion about the effects of the Green Shift on his business....ouch! Dion did not handle that one well. He tried, but was simply out of touch.....his main thrust was that the gov't would offset the $7,000 annually Green Shift would cost this guy by helping him purchase non-existent technology to lower his GHG emissions.

Outta touch!!!!

Had to leave it at 6:30, so I don't know how the last 30 minutes went.

Interessting cross section of those served by CBC Radio.....NOT a cross section of Canadians.

The CBC is our gateway to American intellectual giants like David Frum or anyother two-bit neo-con or republican/democrap they can get on the phone for five minutes of talking to American Think Tanks.
