RE: Give your opinion on

I used to looove Tommy Hunter. Mind you this was back in the day when i had peasent vision and only had three channels, of which the CBC was the only clear channel to come through. So my love of CBC is soo tied to my childhood.

Rock on Tommy...rock on.

"Rock on Tommy Hunter" - that's gotta be one for the oxymoron thread :headbang:
I remember him - my parents used to watch him back in the days of peasant vision too - ah times seemed simpler then, we just didn't know it.... and it occurs to me nobody was complaining about tax dollars going to the cbc when it was one of 2 channels we had to choose from eh? (3 if ya count the french channel loll)

They never consumed a billion taxpayer's dollars while being the media arm of the Liberal party in those days.
The evening "noos with Ben Cartwright" was on par with the old BBC news.

More to the point..can ANYONE explain to me why CBC gets painted with the bias brush, but the CTV and especially GLOBAL do not?

They (MSM) media are primarily leftwing. The CBC gets special billing as it is Tax Payer Funded. It's bosses are appointed by the Government. The Liberal party has been in power on and off about 40 years.

As opposed to CTV which is partially owned by the Globe and Mail, or Global which is owned by CanWest, which also owns the National Post...therefore biased to the right.

If anything, i find the bias on Global in particular( but CTV as well) more noticable because they tie in so tighthly to stronglly biased media outlets.

Im just saying is all.

It sounds like people trying to find something wrong with the CBC. I don't find it very convincing.

I want to thank Canadian taxpayers for letting us
in America watch the Red Green Show free of charge.

I also want to thank Canadian taxpayers for CBC radio
on the shortwave. I used to listen to it when I was a
kid, and then many years later was spellbound as
I listened to the formation of Nunavaat and its people
meeting on Baffin Island discussing whether its women
will have the vote.

I also want to let you all in on a nice secret we
conservatives know about liberal media.

Y'all wanna know it?

Maybe I'll save this secret for later.

I enjoy the fact that the CBC is proudly Canadian.

Their news is second to none. Peter Mansbridge is great.
Their hockey coverage is decent but not what it used to be. They've been surpassed by Sportsnet and TSN imo. Of course they have Don Cherry, which is a plus.

They really need to bring in better sound quality.. everyone else is doing it in surround. The longer they wait the further behind they'll fall.

All things considered, they are behind CTV and Global for Canadian networks where I sit, but still serve their purpose.

No, I won't think differently. I like the CBC. I want my tax dollars being spent on that rather than giving it to some foreign country.

RE: Give your opinion on

A million people tune in every night to watch the news on CBC. That's just the news. Think what the ratings must be on every other show.
