Was it Ghandi that said "and eye for an eye and the whole world would be blind?

I'm not much for beatings....anyone want to go out for dinner?

Seriously, beating someone suspected rather than convicted goes against every single rule that we have been taught since the schoolyard, no matter how well you feed them...if they are convicted however, I feel that terrorist should be subject to the same crime/torture that they commited. If that doesn't fit beat them to within an inch of their lives, cure, and repeat. I do not condone violence, but in such extreme cases as these "an eye for an eye" is appropriate

Can't say I recall. But since they were given a chance to hand over the terrorists and the Taliban decided they were their "guests", didn't seem like tea and crumpets would be effective.

It was Ghandi who said that, Twila...he was a very smart man.

Do you think the police should be able to break the law too, ITN? Is it okay for a cop to arrest somebody who has done nothing wrong? Is it okay for a cop to beat the crap out of somebody for speeding? Is it okay for a cop to shoot somebody because they committed a crime? Do you support lawless vigilantism?'

If the Taliban fighters are breaking the Geneva Conventions, then arrest them and have them tried for their crimes. If Americans are breaking international laws, then arrest them and have them tried for their crimes. It's called justice. You should try it sometime.

Thats a good idea. Who is going to do that? Your buddy Kofi? Amnesty International? The International Court? When has this ever been done before?

So it's your intention then is that we ignore all the torture that IS going on in every single f*cking US detention facility in Iraq, Afghanistan, Cuba, and who-the-f*ck knows where else, and focus on what they're being fed...

...no wonder the world hates your f*king country...

Prove it.

Well done cheeseburgers I hear cause heart attacks, maybe that falls under the definition of torture.

As I recall (and my memory isn't always the best, so feel free to correct this) at the time the request was made there was NO proof that Al-queada was responsible for WTC.....so....maybe tea and crumpets would have worked had it been offered.......

Well I don't think any amount of proof would of worked with the Taliban. They seemed to like the fact OBL was their "guest" and held a press conference indicating they wouldn't give him up.

Now as I recall, Clinton tried to kill an empty tent spending $2 million on a missile supposedly to get OBL and company. So its been long overdue.

I thought Osama at one time was handed to the USG (Pres Bill) and at that time they didn't want him.? Was it really Bill who sent the missile into the tent?

Yeah, it was in retaliation on the attack of the USS Cole. The tent and some aspirin factory.

You seem to have forgotten our discussion of this, and the fact that the investigating office, one John P. O'Neill, was ordered to back off from his investigation into the USS Cole, al-Qaeda and Bin Laden...

So...prove that al-Qaeda has attacked the US...EVER!!

The Saudis offered Bin Laden to the US on three different occasions...each time the US turned them down...

All in all, they are pretty well treated, when you consider they are all suspected terrorists. Many of these prisoners might have done far worse things to their fellow man!

"suspected"
"might have"

You could easily be "suspected" of anything at all; and you "might have" done just about anything. Say, what colour is your skin? What religion are you, anyway?

You heard it from the horses mouth, compliments of Al-Jazeera tapes. Self-incriminating evidence works wonders.

I suggest when OBL is captured, alive if possible, dead, just as good, we feed him Nathans hot dogs, I hear they have a muslim version of it, we wouldn't want to torture the poor guy.

Better safe than sorry. On the other hand all they have to do is wear some sort of miltary uniform for indentification purposes, that would solve a few problems.
