Arthur Topham, publisher of the Radical Press website, was arrested on May 16, 2012, at 11:30 am on the Barkerville Highway near Quesnel, B.C., put in handcuffs and taken to jail. Apparently, Arthur’s home had been staked out for quite some time by the RCMP.

While in jail, Arthur’s house was raided and his computer equipment confiscated, including all his files. During the raid, Shasta, Arthur’s wife, wasn’t allowed into her home for 9 hours. Once the RCMP had taken what they wanted -- we wonder where the bugs are now hidden -- and finished questioning Arthur, he was released at 11:00 pm.

Arthur is now back home again, but prohibited from sending ANY emails or expressing any opinions about the issues all too familiar to us. In other words, freedom of speech, which he so passionately fights for, has now been stymied by unconstitutional summersaults, technically and “legally” muzzling him, for the time being. Without compunction, might is right in Canada.

 During the last 14 years Arthur has literally spent tens of thousands of hours, and God only knows how much energy, sleepless nights and missed opportunities for personal advancement, in defense of our right to free speech and the exposure of vital truths, to the benefit and enlightenment of us all. That’s unselfishness at it’s best and I think it deserves some signs of appreciation.

So, please, kindly express them.

Mr. Topham is a miner and is listed as secretary of the Cariboo Mining Association. He also publishes Radical Press, a website that posts materials with conspiracy theory themes such as the “Biological Jew” and the “Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion.”
The Biological Jew depicts Jews as parasites that suck the blood from their “host” societies while the Protocols is a fraudulent book that purports to describe a conspiracy for worldwide Jewish domination.

It just gets funnier the more you read.

“These guys have spent the last 2,000 years trying to destroy our religion, and you like a Judas are out here like a, like one of their dogs chasing down people who are trying to defend the Christian religion,” he said. “You ought to be ashamed of yourself.”

This guy was a writer too with a similiar attitude.

As with most things, its not the law that is the problem it becomes the interpretation of the
law and its application. I think we really don't need to single anyone our be they gay, or
of colour or even right or left of the spectrum. I view this as the absolute right to state one's
ignorance will be alive and well. Perhaps censorship should come from the public at large.
The difference will be demonstrations and singling people out and making public demons
out of them rather than outright criminals. Anyone going to hear people who are filled with
hate, prejudice or what ever will be branded as being of the same ilk. Either way ignorance
will be alive and well across the land as it already is alive and well.
It often turns out the pendulum swings back and forth if the law gets revisited under a new
administration it will come back as even more punitive.
Hate speech, abortion, sexual preference and all these issues are more social issues than
legal ones and no amount of laws for or against change peoples minds or hearts just the
same as education rarely changes minds on such topics. With people expressing their views
I will be able to avoid people with hate and an unforgiving nature.

Nope. Nice try. I especially like how he goes on to specify a couple of "limits" on free speech but claims that they are reasonable. So he is more than willing to play the censor, he just quibbles about what is reasonable.

Here's a good example that isn't hate speech: I use makeup to make it look like I have broken my arm and have a bone jutting out. I use some tubes and liquid to make it look like I am gushing blood. Now I walk down the street fully naked to make a pure political statement regarding the censorship of violence vs. sexuality in Canada. I will be arrested, and likely that falls under Ezra's "reasonable" limits since he never makes statements regarding public nudity offences.

But oh no, the censorship that Ezra doesn't find reasonable are so much more egregious? What rationale is he using to decide between reasonable and unreasonable limits? I'm hurting nobody walking down the street nude. Ezra even goes on to point out how subjective "offensive" is in regards to hate speech, and nudity is nothing but offensive.

If you can defend libel laws, you will find that hate speech laws are even easier to defend. Especially given that you will find that truth will never be a defense to hate speech. If damage to reputation is actionable, hate speech and libel are basically identical, only the targets have changed.

My opinion on the freedom of speech is:
I dont care when people use words or certain combinations. Even if the persoin is angry or upset and uses the words Cousin ****in cracker, your a ******, slanty eyed ****er, dumb bitch..... etc.. Thats fine with me

But if your inspiring the people like hitler at a socialist rally, and talking hatred into sheeple like napolean talked to his troops than theres a problem there....

If you organize hatred, than you might as well order a knuckle sandwich for lunch

As for Khomeini and Hitler, I'm sure I could find some quote of either one with which I could agree. It's just that I'd have to look for it.
