Asbestos, I see as a "two edged sword", good if used correctly, deadly if not. I grew up around lots of it! Is there a replacement that is just as good?
Thats the problem , there is nothing as good for some applications. For the most part asbestos id benign until it gets stirred up and creates dust. Our house has vermiculite insulation in the attic and is not a problem because there is no movement. When I go up there I wear a full face mask and bunny suit same as when we do an abatement job. The rule makers at Worksafe BC of course used the nuclear bomb to kill a mosquito method of control which means they missed much important stuff. Because we are all licensed up to do this stuff we have to play by all the expensive rules but joe homeowner or fly by night contractors can take asbestos laden drywall to the dump exposing dump/recycling workers to asbestos dust and no one cares.
There is background asbestos in nearly all soil.
My MSc in Geology says I can tell when Gu is dumbing sh-t down to drywaller level.

notwithstanding how the OP study results align with the current U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) position/statement:
I think if memory serves me correctly earthquakes were happening long before fracking and what caused them then is probably still causing them today.....................shifting of the earth's plates...............a few gallons of water shouldn't make much difference.
I have also linked fracking to having the cheque I wrote to Suzuki Foundation returned.
Once that GreenPeace sends me a truck load of cash, I'll perform a 'study' to confirm
