Here is a nice story out of Mexico-and please don’t suggest it could never happen here! Just think back to Mike Harris and the civil service Hogs besieging Queens Park and shutting down the govt of the Ontari-owe premier elected to a second term with the LARGEST MAJORITY ever given in Ontari-owe. While Toronto cops stood back and did nothing as Hogs screamed in rage demanding more gravy! I have added some comments of my own in brackets) to the report:

OAXACA, Mexico - Violent clashes between police and members of a radical teachers' union who had blockaded roads in southern Mexico on Sunday left six people dead and more than 100 injured, officials said.
The teachers from the National Coordinator of Education Workers, or CNTE, are opposed to the mandatory testing of teachers as part of Mexico's sweeping education reform and are also protesting the arrest of union leaders on money laundering and other charges.
(Yeah- and OUR teachers consider it an INSULT that the province should use EQUAO testing to see if our kids are actually learning anything in class! How long before our teacher are as foolishly militant as their southern colleagues?)
In Sunday's clashes in the southern state of Oaxaca, protesters threw stones and Molotov cocktails, and burned vehicles, while Associated Press journalists saw riot police firing on protesters. Clashes took place in several municipalities in Oaxaca, but the most violent were in Nochixtlan, north of the state capital also called Oaxaca.
In a late-night press conference, Oaxaca state Gov. Gabino Cue, accompanied by Federal Police chief Enrique Galindo, raised the death toll from the clashes in Nochixtlan to six. They said 53 civilians, 41 federal police agents and 14 state police agents were injured.

Cue said that all the dead were civilians, with two having ties to the CNTE union. A state official had previously said a state police officer was killed but it turned out the person was a civilian.
Earlier Sunday, Mexico's federal government released a statement saying 21 federal police had been wounded, three of them by gunfire, and that its agents who participated in the operation were not carrying guns.
"The attacks with guns came from people outside the blockades who fired on the population and federal police," it said.

But footage filmed by The AP shows at least one police officer firing a gun several times, though it was unclear if he was a federal or state agent. Late Sunday night, Galindo acknowledged that he had sent in some officers with guns after agents came under fire. "The police obligation is to protect the population," he said.
(So it is entirely likely the cop guns came out AFTER some idiot opened fire on them- and the news media was not quick enough to spot this- or maybe not honest enough to admit that!)
Clashes were continuing Sunday night outside of Oaxaca city and in the municipalities of San Pablo Huitzo and Santiaguito, where protesters had burned federal police installations.
Over the past week, unionized teachers have blockaded streets, a shopping mall and even train tracks in the western state of Michoacan. They have also forced some bus lines to cancel trips to Oaxaca, which is a popular tourist destination, and blocked a highway on the isthmus of Tehuantepec. And in Oaxaca city, protesting teachers have set up an encampment in the city's main square.
Federal prosecutors accuse union leaders of setting up an illegal financial network to fund protests and line their own pockets. They allege the scheme operated in 2013-2015, when the union effectively controlled the payroll of Oaxaca's teachers.
Following the arrest of some if its top leaders, the union called for a revolt against Mexico's government.

Ten years ago, the teachers started a six-month takeover of Oaxaca that didn't end until police stormed the barricades.
(I have to ask if its possible that our teachers and unions could ever become so militant and the possible answer is disturbing! A couple of years back, the outgoing chairman of the OSSTF pension management fund team - the head advisor to the group managing the LARGEST single pension fund in North America-came on TVO/The Agenda and told views that the OSSTF-that`s our high school teachers- pension fund would be virtually bankrupt by about 2018 UNLESS it got roughly FIFTY FIVE BILLION DOLLARS in top up funds from LIE-beral govt of Ontari-owe.)
(As we have heard no more about this issue since LIE-berals and their civil service union Hog allies think it is none of our busines what back room deals they cook up- I have to assume the LIE-berals were partly successful in turning our electrical system intio a giant slush fund they could use to bribe Hogs with! However as ETFO- our elementary teachers- have turned their support to NDP- I presume the amount of gravy offered by LIE-berals was INSUFFICIENT and we can look for MORE ATTACKS on our wallets if either LIE-berals or NDPers gain real political power!)
(OSSTF is only ONE of NINETEEN provincial unions that Ontari-owe is indebted to thanks to MAD LIE-beral spending promises. Our municipalities, the federal govt and the assorted crown corporations-the hospitals and colleges and universities, ORNGE, OPG, Metrolinx and all the other alphabet soup of arms length govt agencies have promised HUNDREDS of billions more to the civil service Hogs. The total amount promised by LIE-berals at all levels of govt may well be OVER ONE TRILLION DOLLARS-more than enough to DESTROY Canada if LIE-berals make any serious efforts to honour their mad promises!)
(Its worth asking: how far would you go to get your hands on a share of a trillion dollars? And what steps will civil service Hogs take to ensure `their` LIE-beral govt HONOURS those mad promises? The civil service gravy train is a THREAT to Cdn peace and democracy! We are not immune to the troubles they have in Greece and Mexico!)
Because nearly everyone except the teachers union cares about the future and kids are the future. To the union they are simply disposible pawns.
