And what I have noticed in the three years I have been reading this forum...nobody's view have been changed by much and those that were on the left of the political spectrum are still on the left and the right hasn't changed either..
And those that can recognize that fact can start having fun and not be so uptight about it.....non?
I suppose you can label me as a fiscal conservative social liberal. That might not change but I haven't found my political party yet.

I don't think there's anything wrong with disagreeing with someone, even passionately, even angrily, but I think the polarization argument especially in Canada is a straw man. If Stephen Harper is PM for five more years the world won't end and if the Liberals came to power I would think the same. Sure, we'd all bitch at each other and fight about that we think is wrong, but there would be no rioting in the streets or million man marches.

A good example of that is repatriation ceremonies. When a soldier comes down that highway both sides of the war debate have stood side by side to acknowledge the loss. In the last funeral I went to there was a significant difference oif opinion about the war, but we weren't so polarized that we had to stand on opposing sides of the casket.

We are fed this bill of goods by the media with their phoney outrage and the extreme elements of Society's weaker brained individuals. These are the same people who rabble rouse soccer fans, or go to Black Block protests. They are not representative.

My 'alignment' tends to sway depending on the concurrent situation. If we have 'enough' civil liberty then a social and fiscally conservative society might be more appropriate. If we require more then at least social liberalism is necessary to offset unwarranted oppression. Right now, I think we're unquestionably in a spot where we can't be conservative - not for at least 30 - 40 years.

If we can get rid of some of the silly prejudices we have in place currently holding back peaceful and intelligent citizens and this whole poverty and population deal can get stabilized, we might be able to shift gears.

I don't know where I lay in this political spectrum and I really don't care for labels.
I would like to see this country take back it's soveriengty.
Less power to PM and more transperency in what and where the government spends out money.
Laws should also be applicable to them as to any civilian charged with the same accusation.
I don't believe at all we live in a democracy beyond our ability to vote . A third of representative either running the country or holding it back is not democracy.

Politics is just a game and we are the puppet audience. What ever they do we are stuck living with it.
I'm pro choice .
I'm pro gay marriage.
I'm for those that break the law and convicted lose rights and privilages. Tired seeing them come on top of thier victims.
I am for manditory voting.
I am against imigrant welfare.

just to outline a few points.

The problem is mandatory voting is uninformed people are helping to make decisions.

True , but still what's the difference with the few that vote now ? Are they more informed than those that don't vote?
We are so mis-informed as it is anyways. If it isn't the party spin on things then it is the media with their leanings.

I'm not a fan of mandatory anything.
I believe that with freedom comes obligations.

I'm not talking about lawlessness, just no government intrusion. I don't need a government to make me vote. I vote on my own.

The way things are going we have lost sight that we are the Government , those bozo's on the hill are there to represent us.
With all the party games we are seeing they have put us asleep and totally disinterested .(in general form )
