My my my....
In the middle of charging to the rescue of a lying thieving American administration, which is by the way part opinion and part fact....like most propaganda.... we haul out nutbars like those mentioned....
We could pretend that Richard Nixon a thief and a liar (documented fact) was prepared to tell anyone who'd listen...anything that'd serve this gentleman's agenda....
We could throw our ideological support behind Ronald Reagan who with the help of Ollie North and Colin Powel operated an entirely illegal arms trade that involved Iran and the Contras in Nicaragua....
We could dismiss the various colourful irregularities in the Bill Clinton administration and simply suggest that Bill the Pill was no better/worse than John Kenneday when it came to indiscretions and evidence of dubious facility at making decisions and exercising good judgment....
We have Jean Chretien who had Canadians pay for the road to his cottage to be paved to save the government limo that he took to get away from the strenuous pace demanded by dodging pies and dancing the pepper-spray tango....
We have Paul Martin who stood in the House of Commons and railed against Canadian corporations not paying their fair share of taxes...while CSL was moved off-shore, ships were re-flagged and Canadian crews were fired so cheaper off-shore help took their places...
From the principle executives of both Canada and the United States there is ample evidence in the public record that they all lie cheat and steal when the "necessity" arises. We've had Canadian Senators living in Mexico while collecting their salaries as senators out of the public purse....
It's a benchmark of sorts that the same people who froth at the mouth every time their flimsy facades of "integrity" and "honesty" or for that matter, "transparency in government"...as indicated by both Stephen Harper and George Bush et al.... falls apart around them.
It's a pity that so many otherwise shrewd and critical thinking people in Canada and America would happily invoke their willing suspension of disbelief when the mountain of evidence available to us all clearly establishes the character and fabric of the nations leadership through graft corruption and lies....that is eagerly gulped down by these people who are so afraid their castles in the air are exactly what they are....fantasy.
