A very interesting read on how indiscriminate blanket opposition for expansion in the Oil & Gas industry is hindering Canada's economic recovery. I think it's as plain as the noses on our faces that the days of burning fossil fuels are numbered, but for the time being the key word is "compromise" as the boisterous economy needed to finance the green renaissance can at this time only come from active exploitation of our natural resources.

Wishful thinking. For the most part environmentalists, while well-meaning, haven't thought the issue through. The conundrum here is that we desperately need the money that the oil and gas industry can put on the table in order to successfully ween the country off the oil and gas industry. Alternatives to the burning of fossil fuels are no where near widely available enough to support the shutdown of the oilsands, which is what all the chanting and drumming is asking for. It's short sighted and irresponsible and is already causing more trouble than it's preventing.

Just look at Ontario.


Our standard of living is quite good here and conbots have been complaining about our economy for over a decade.

The "economy" is driven by an abundance of credit, not resource commodities exclusively. Blame the bankers and the politicians for the lack of good jobs. Wanting to preserve the planet is a respectable effort, even if some of them get a bit weird about it.

Now the buzz word of the disenfranchised, jobless and homely-looking Left is 'Climate Change'.

Obviously because they realize the importance of oil & gas revenues and taxes to getting the economy back on track. What other reason could there be? Neither of them were huge fans of the oil & gas industry in the past, it's the reality of our situation that is forcing this compromise.

It's unrealistic to stagnate an economy for whatever reason, people suffer, not politicians. When making changes which has a significant impact, a transitioning team makes sure that a replacement is ready to go to minimize any negative impact. I'm glad Manitoba and Sask didn't sign, of course JT pushed it threw anyway, but it's a betrayal, not a victory. Definitely not the right time for families to have to pay more to live.
