I think you may be confusing Dearborn with Detroit. When my wife and I visited Detroit a few years ago we were advised by a cop to get out of the city. We drove back the way we had come and found ourselves in a state of the art mall in Dearborn. Boarded up stores? Didn't see any, and I didn't see any in that racist video either.
Um, thanks for the geography lesson, but I DO know the difference between Detroit and Dearborn. I know where I am too when I'm there and if I forgot where I was I'm sure my husband would have reminded me.
Could be we were there at different times.
Another thing I didn't see in Dearborn was people on the streets. As I said, it looked like a ghost town. We drove around for a while scouting the place and decided to move on for a night's lodging.
