I voted at Canim Lake Reserve and knew every single person working for Elections Canada. I had my voting card which was turned in and I did show two pieces of ID.

Let me be clear, I was not asked to show ID, I simply had it ready and displayed it. My voters card and name on the list were enough to get my ballot.

I voted at St. Joseph's Basilica downtown Edmonton. I thought we were trying to separate church and state.

We accidentally popped in the wrong door and they were having mass. The basilica must hold 300 people easily but I counted only 5 desperate souls hanging onto every word the priest uttered. Such a beautiful building with nobody there but the voters.

You guys actually use IDs to vote? Heck, down here all you need to do is walk in and give a name. If the name is on the list they give you a ballot and you vote. That is why dead people have been voting for years and the whole roster of the Dallas Cowboys ended up on the voter registration papers in Las Vegas.

Canada's way is much better.

People have tried to pass laws saying you need to present an ID in order to vote but the opponents call it racist.

Well, the Dems think it is and that the law would exclude minorities from voting.

You see?

Voter ID laws a form of voter suppression? Resist racism

I can't make this stuff up.

From that blog "these types of laws typically adversely affect the poor, people of color, people with disabilities and the elderly."

Wouldn't the poor, disabled and elderly generally have ID so they can receive state benefits?

The whole premise of the blog is racist and stereotypical in its self.

Yes they would.

The bottom line is that this law would prevent voter fraud. The Dems need voter fraud it would seem.

Northern Ontario,
I didn't have to show my id to vote either... my neighbour was working the polling station. He knows my full name and my address, and knows it all matches the voting card I handed over. I still brought it. I had no clue who'd be working. But, I didn't need to show it.

My neighbour was also at the polling station this time and the last time, but I still had to show my driver's licence, because the other people at the table maybe didn't know me......but I have to admit she barely looked at it, and she told me that according to the rules that she was given, that she has to ask for an identification with a picture on it.
