-45c with the wind here this morning. Car was a bit sluggish...;-)

Hi Ron
I remember those kind of days. Remember when nylon tires first came out? If the car was parked outside at that temperature they had a flat spot for the first ten miles or so. We are getting more snow at the moment and it is supposed to stop around noon and turn to rain.....I can't wait...;-)

We have a snowy looking sky today, but nothing has fallen from it yet, and still
nothing on the ground at all, well, I guess I shouldn't say that, because there is
still some thin layers in small areas that never get the sun, but that is 'old' snow.

Just like mid winter here yet, about minus 5C today and still lots of snow, but hey go ahead and gloat, as we do up here during the summer months.

I'll gloat in the summer too.;-)

Yes, Courtenay generally has fairly good weather in summer, except for the first summer we lived there (1976) - that summer had one decent weekend. Got soaked and shivered on the only camping trip we did with the kids that summer (at Miracle Beach) .......bloody miracle we didn't all get pneumonia.

yeah, those summers come and go all over the lower mainland and the island.
We were still on the mainland that year, didn't come to the island till dec. l980
We've had many trips with or without kids over the years, in various areas of
b.c. where we froze or soaked through the whole thing.
We had many years of minor ball with teams, trips all over the place, and I
was always on the bench with the players, keeping score, and more than a
few times, I did that sitting inside of a sleeping bag, to keep warm, and if
it wasn't that, then we were building shelters to keep the hot sun from killing
all of us from sunstroke. I think those a great memories, maybe I should think
about again and have second thoughts.;-)

Talloola- Courtenay used to hold market day about the third Friday in July when 5th street businesses pulled their wares out onto the street. Does that still happen? That was supposed to be the most dependable date for good weather.

Saskatchewan happens to hold the record for the hottest officially
recorded temperature in Canada. Some very extreme extremes
out here...

In Regina July 5th, 1937 it reached +43.3c (that's +109.94ºF)
In Regina Jan. 1st, 1885 it reached -50.0c (that's -58ºF)

That's a maximum range of almost 168ºF....and that's not
factoring in Humidex or Wind Chill.

The highest temperature officially recorded in Canada is 45 °C (113 °F) on July 5,
1937 at Midale and at Yellow Grass, two small towns in southeastern Saskatchewan.

I used Regina as an example of the extremes 'cuz, well...that's where
I'm sitting as I type this. :lol::lol::lol:

I thought you might be right JLM but - from what I read here, Sask. wins this one.

The highest temperature officially recorded in Canada is 45 °C (113 °F) on July 5, 1937 at Midale and at Yellow Grass, two small towns in southeastern Saskatchewan. The Canadian high sits far below North America's all-time maximum temperature of 56.7 °C (134 °F) in Death Valley, California on July 10, 1913.
Western Canada

Heat waves of over 40 °C (104 °F) have repeatedly swept through towns and cities in southern Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and the southern interior of British Columbia.

No new snow at my house today or where I work either. One of my sons said he had way more snow then I have at my house so you must live more in the area that he does. We sure still have enough of it around to be well aware that it is there. I hate snow.

Yes market day is every july, third friday, and always sunny and warm, and very
successful, and they also have moonlight madness in november, stores are open
late into the night, road is blocked off, xmas carrolls etc. They used to call it
midnight madness, but the teenagers/kids took advantage of that and ruined
it by stupid behavior, so they cut it back to a bout 9/10 oclock.

It started snowing very early this morning and we have about six or eight inches and it is still snowing quite hard. I was just starting to think winter was pretty much over because yesterday there wasn't a trace left of previous snowfalls. Seems to me that the first day of spring is about twelve days away so we could stop this nonsense any time now.

PS....Talloola, if you have warm weather and sunshine I don't want to hear about it..;-)

Unless I hadn't heard it on the radio, I wouldn't believe what is happening to you
and many others.
I will keep my fingers crossed.

We have had snow for the last two days. When the sun came out yesterday it really started melting the snow but by bedtime, we still had lots. It is only just before 10:00 AM and we have another 5 inches. It's still snowing!

Damn I had to close the curtains because the sun is so blinding. Well that will probasbly toast any dafodils popping up. It will get better dear. Lets just hope it's not another 98 with rampant floods in spring and then no rain for months.
