It's different in the sense of the common good as the first responsibility of the individual, defined by a moral order instuted by God.

You seem to be defining an society ruled by the (non existent) Invisible Hand of the Free Market as actuated by personal greed and enrichment. The difference is day and night.

In its most constructive formation social doctrine should be a fusion free enterprise and free labour.

The Silk Road Traders (or any others) didn't conduct their business for the common good.

Your interpretation of a more rudimentary system of trading commodities instead of a (cash) representation remains as the cornerstone for all things capitalist.

Pope Francis receives a salary of 1 Euro a year, plus room and board. On his retirement Pope Benedict was allotted a pension of 2500 Euro a month.

When John Paul II died his entire estate was comprised of the contents of his desk.. a rosary, a Book of Hours (priestly prayer missal), a few religious tokens, and his brother Edmund's stethoscope ( Edmund was physician who contracted scarlet fever and died while treating an epidemic of the disease in Poland in 1932).

This for the world's wealthiest Church and an institution that possesses the greatest artistic and architectural treasures on the globe. Not everyone is in the Ministry for the money.
