How much was the orange juice ?For the last six months, Canadians couldn’t be trusted with knowing which member of the Canadian delegation attending the funeral for Queen Elizabeth last September stayed in a $6,000-a-night room with a private butler. The government refused to say who stayed there, Global Affairs discussed how to keep the name under wraps, and documents were redacted to keep the person’s identity secret. The Canadian Taxpayers Federation launched a legal action to discover the truth.
Only on Thursday, did Trudeau finally admit he was the mystery guest. Apparently, Canadians can’t be trusted to know how a prime minister is spending taxpayers’ money.

Actually, it was $7,300.00 (£4800) not $6000, but who's counting I guess. It's clearly nothing more than an attempt at at distraction from the bigger and more devastating scandals Trudeau is currently dealing with. And it will most likely work....Canadian voters attention span is about as thin as his moral integrity. Interesting that he decided to confess and divulge this information mere hours before a house vote on potential election interference to look into something he has fought with every trick he has available to cover up and obfuscate.
To be honest, not enough people in this country give a flying fiddlers f*ck anyway, Trudeau just does what he does, and we all just pathetically shrug and then go about our day like the chumps we are, working to scrape enough money together to pay our taxes, keep up with crushing inflation, and hopefully have enough left over to pay the gas bill.
I am genuinely curious as to why the rules are so polar opposite for left leaning politicians than right. If Harper or any other conservative pulled shit anywhere close to this, the whole country would be losing their collective minds. It's honestly hard to understand why the left always gets a pass. Gov. Gen. Mary Simon bills taxpayers $90,000 to cover the cost of a visit to her home town... Sen. Mike Duffy expenses the same amount in eligible moving expenses and it positively destroys not just him...but the conservative PM who appointed him and the party he was associated with. Why the contrast?
Canadians are by and large either growing increasingly tolerant of corruption, hopelessly stupid and apathetic, or so acutely partisan that rational consideration of facts and basic political parity is incomprehensible to them. Whatever it is, it will without question be the end of our founding principles of impartiality and upset any semblance of democratic balance.
I realize your response is meant to be sarcastic, I think blaming the bought-and-paid-for media is superficial and misses the target. Most people with even a modicum of frontal lobe brain activity can see through the sham notion of independent media. Most people...even those with the comparative intelligence of amoeba don't use media as a source of information any more, most use it to reinforce their confirmation bias. I don't think people are swayed by media, they know full well the system is rigged in favor of progressive ideology, regardless of what their partisan stripe may be. And many of them also know full well that most "news" is propaganda bullshit. Some use it to push their ideological agenda, and some protest and call it out for what it is.
So again, what causes average Canadians to turn an ignorant blind eye to left wing lies and corruption, but bring down fiery wrath on any conservative that even thinks of stepping out of line? How is the obvious double standard justified in the heads of the average left leaning Canadian?
Remember how easy it was to get Canadians to mask up , social distance , shutter companies and obey mandates . Thank the press and their fear porn . How about the freedom convoy ? Thousands lining the highways cheering them on with nary a peep from the media . The convoy had a send off rally in Cloverdale and the Global reporter was trying to pass it off as a protest about road conditions on the Coquihala Hwy . The mainstream press have more influence then you give them credit for . These are the same press that hounding an MP out of politics over a 16 dollar orange juice yet have zero interest in the PM staying in a $7,500.00 per night suite .
Because they're people. I don't like to comment on Canadian politics much, but this just people being people. When one of usuns does something wrong, it's forgivable, or at least understandable. Maybe "unfortunate." When one of themmuns does the same thing, it not only calls for crucifixion, it proves once and for all that all themmuns are vile demons who hate Gawd, Canada, Truth, Justice, and Hockey.
