(facepalm) - Why? For eff's sake, you had one job. ONE JOB. Go there and mourn! What an embarrassment.

I’m no fan of Trudeau, but these reactions seem a little over the top to me. There’s no indication he was drunk, he wasn’t the only one singing, and it appears to have been a spontaneous event in a hotel lobby, not an official event as part of the memorials for the Queen. Seems perfectly natural to me that people surrounded by such somber events would want to blow off a little steam, I’ve been at memorials where similar things happened. I think you’re just taking an opportunity to diss him because you don’t like him for other reasons.

Not like there aren’t plenty of those…

Hmm. . . subject shows an admirable grasp of the patently obvious (and repeatedly proven).

EXACTLY.

Hating on him for doing this is just reaching for reasons to be mad/add to being hateful. Why? Use REAL things to be pissed at him for, FFS.

Dex, in all honesty I just assumed it was the next scandal in the string of them, & I did jump at the opportunity to dis him. I wasn’t the opening post but I was #2. I assumed that he was drunk from the very first word in the thread title, and didn’t even read through the link as I was out on a quick two minute smoke break at work and my time didn’t become my time until about now.

I still haven’t read through the New story but I plan on doing it tonight yet.

You mean like when the Turd-o Libshits and their little acolytes made fun of Harper when he attended a Catholic Church and got confused about how they do communion?

If that happened, the idiots who went off on Harper deserve kicks to the nuts.

Having gone to a Catholic service once, I can get being confused.

(Wait, does that make me a Liberal still? All these non-liberal things I agree with... hard to tell anymore)

Point again is hate on him for doing legit stupid things. Being in a hotel and singing with other people isn't a legit reason to hate on him.

Thing is, it doesn’t normally happen when heads of state have a funeral. And technically the queen is TurdOWE’s boss.

IT would be perfectly natural under most circumstances but protocol is that he's supposed to be officially in mourning. Somber, sober, etc etc. It's kind of like a 'fun is bad right now' kind of moment. Remember the gov't isn't even supposed to be doing business during those 10 days, there's a federal day off just to mourn. So it looks REALLY bad if you're out partying it up and having a great time.

If this was just a regular state visit this would be a total nothing-burger but when he's there mourning the queen's death? That's a big deal. And it's not a canadian paper that's ripping him for it

As a person, yes people who are morning sometimes go to a bar and sometimes let off steam. Nothing wrong with that. However, when the person is holding public office, the rules are different. Particularly if the event is public where you know someone will have a cellphone.

Exaclty. Nobody would blame someone if they went out a few days before their mom's funeral and had a sing-a-long with some friends trying to get your spirit up. Might actually do you some good.

But he's the Prime Minister of the queen's Favorite commonwealth country on a journey of official mourning. You just don't do that. Hell even I knew that much. You spend 10 full days looking sad and mournful. That's the gig.
