Doug Ford says he would open up Greenbelt to development

Video leaked by the Liberals shows Doug Ford promising that if elected Premier, he’ll open up the Greenbelt for development to help decrease housing prices. Nitish Bissonauth with experts who say the solution to affordable housing isn’t that simple.

Yeah, he's backtracked now. Likely thought it might be a good idea initially until he discussed it with his constituents and found that they weren't too crazy about it. Still a free country as far as I know - you are allowed to change your mind or come up with different or better ideas. Needless to say, it's going to be interesting come June 4th!!

Rest assured that if elected Doug Ford will do something to make housing cheaper. Perhaps involving subways.

The government is not in the business of making house prices cheaper . They get their cut on any sale . Why would they want a smaller cut ? You on the other hand can sell your house ( if you own one ) to who ever and for as little as you want . Go ahead start the trend downward .

I'm in two minds about the green belt, but I do favour allowing higher-density development on already-developed land so at to encourage more urban intensification and less suburban sprawl into agricultural lands.

They're going to open up a new flip-flop factory.

Not a big market for those in winter but it might bring in a profit in summer.

I find it interesting that Kathy Wynn had to defend herself on this since apparently the Lieberals have been doing exactly this. I am sure the land was not released to Lieberal supporters.

MFs good commie friends are killing off all the girl babies in china and selling their organs and we are worried about rob ford changing his mind...?
:)
Well, at least that's proof he has one.

Unlike some of these fakenews purveyors who just keep on keeping on long after the truth has refuted them.

Not even hired yet and he's already breaking promises.

He's going to bury Ontario in debt way worse than Wynne ever did.

A big chunk of it is farmland which isn’t wasted. If they want to expand they should build up not out.

Never been there but if the city owns land they need to look at all possible uses for it. Farming is also a good use for government owned land as long as the government in question doesn't try to run the farm themselves.

I think you're missing the point here that Doug Ford had a brazen moment with his elite buddies, didn't tell Ontario voters about it and only changed his mind once the Liberals revealed his stupidity.
