Actually, one more thing we can thank the benevolent British Empire for.
Acksherly, the term was coined for Eagle's hometown.

"The word gerrymander (originally written Gerry-mander) was used for the first time in the Boston Gazette on 26 March 1812. The word was created in reaction to a redrawing of Massachusetts state senate election districts under Governor Elbridge Gerry (pronounced /ˈɡɛri/; 1744–1814). In 1812, Governor Gerry signed a bill that redistricted Massachusetts to benefit his Democratic-Republican Party. When mapped, one of the contorted districts in the Boston area was said to resemble the shape of a salamander."

The insinuation that GOP seats are gerrymandered... or at least a large amount. It goes both ways. Here in our state our House Speaker plead guilty to a felony for attempting to gerrymander a minority area so a fellow white democrat could keep his seat.

What the heck are you talking about? I didn't say a word about the GOP.

Try to follow: if a legislative body is heavily gerrymandered, there will be little change in the distribution of seats. Ergo, the party with the majority is likely to retain the majority.

He was talking about the the GOP possibly losing the House and you say this...

I think you're underestimating the number of "safe seats" gerrymandered in the House of Representatives.

No... I bet you're going to vote for Clinton though. :)
I'll vote for Trump if he's on the ballot in the general election.

Promise.

I hear pundit after pundit predict this (the abortion comments) is the final nail in Trump's political coffin.

I've heard one (David Gergen) speculate that Trump is deliberately sabotaging his own campaign because he doesn't really want to President. Actually i've been listening to this for 9 months and it all washes off Trump like water.

It seems to be a large part of the American electorate is sick to death of being told to come to their senses and to conform to conventions of political correctness and to capitulate to accepted (free market) economic theory as they watch their country crash and burn around them.

I expect Trump to be around in November.. and if he's up against Hillary.. i expect he'll win. The mere fact that these talking heads of the establishment consider him such threat should bolster their confidence that he is actually offering something different.

Since Rubio left the race Cruz has won more candidates than Trump, 77-65.

They could lose the Senate but would get it back the first midterms.

Losing the House... not a chance.

My prediction is that if they gain the presidency, both house and senate would swing away from then by 2020 elections. Seems to be a pattern to have deadlock in the president's second term. If they don't they will likely hold on to both house and senate (at least by 2018).

Since Rubio left the race Cruz has won more candidates than Trump, 77-65.

I think that was the prediction early on. For Trump the feeling was that a 1 on 1 would work against Trump. The longer the field was split, the better for Trump.
