He runs a billion dollar company, and has many employees of all different races working for him.. I doubt he's as scary as you want to believe.
Trump is galvanizing the grass roots and that includes the legions of potential volunteers who you have to have to make a successful GOP campaign. Hillary can't garner that kind of support and she also seriously lags behind Trump in earned media (press coverage). It doesn't help that the arrogant bitch won't grant any serious interviews nor will she hold any open press conferences where surprise questions inevitably crop up.
Trump is even starting to see poll number gains in the black and Hispanic voter groups while these are two groups that Hillary has written off.
Trump isn't going to carry those groups but it's becoming clear that he can siphon off enough of their votes to matter. On Hillary's side her challenge will be getting those people to vote at all because she's simply not going to get the same demographic as Obama had.
And as far as the judgment of the GOP Establishment goes all I have to say is Dole, Romney, and McCain
