C'mon, spit it out!
You're just gonna keep at me, ain't you?
OK, I'll lay this out one time. Then I'll get back to the snark.
[sincerity] I don't hold with bad-mouthing veterans for their service. Saying you "fought for your country" is a pretty standard euphemism for saying you served. I respect anybody who served, especially in the Cold War. Whether they were actually in combat or not, they raised their right hands, put on uniforms, and put their butts on the line. And the Cold War vets don't get much respect for that, even though we actually took on the only foe since England in 1812-1814 who posed an existential threat to the U.S. (and Canada). You were a Marine. You say so, and I believe it. And I respect you for that. Don't care how long you served, don't care what your MOS was. You raised your right hand, put on a uniform, and voluntarily placed your favorite skin "between your lov'd home and the war's desolation." That's good enough for me.
I got problems with Curious too. I probably like him more'n you do, but I ain't real fond of his anti-American tirades. Mostly I ignore them, every now and then I take him down. But I don't see a reason to denigrate his service. I don't care if he was a chaplain's clerk in Manitoba, he put up his hand and took his chances.
Just my two bits. Do what you like.[/sincerity]
