He may be a great rock musician, I don't know (though someone who does not care for rock music will hardly consider it a great achievement). The problem is the poster which shows him smoking.

When you show such a poster to elementary school children, you are simply asking for trouble. If the teacher is such a great fan of Zeppelin, let him put up a poster of him, without showing him smoking. But to show a poster of a prominent personality smoking, to elementary school kids is nothing short of criminal.
You seem to be confused. The ad that shows the Marloboro man smoking is not the Led Zeppelin poster the letter author was referring to. The letter's author was indicating that even cigarettes are not as bad as other drugs and that the LZ poster was an attempt to convince kids that drugs are good.

rofflmfao So what drugs are you taking that make you this muddleheaded?

It was an ad for Marlboro cigarettes, dopey. The Led Zeppelin poster was likely for a concert or an album. Get a grip.

ooops Guess I should have read ahead a bit before posting. Hubby and a couple others already mentioned his royal duhness's goofup. lol

Is this the poster they have hanging in the elementary school?

At least that is the impression I got by reading the letter.

Actually, the poster in question was a Led Zep poster.... they used the above poster as an example for their argument that the Led Zep poster advertised drug use much like the above poster advertised tobacco use..... which is a complete joke.

If they have this poster hanging in elementary school, it is just plain wrong. It gives the message that smoking is cool. That can pervert the impressionable minds of elementary school children.

If they want to put up a poster of Led Zeppelin (without any smoking involved), I don't have a problem with that. However, I am opposed to anything that may encourage chlidren to smoke, and this poster does it in a big way.

^ The above poster is not Led Zeppelin.... none in the band even looked like that guy and they didn't play country music.... and that guy sure doesn't look cool. Maybe in the mid 70's he looked cool... but now he looks kinda creepy and sleazy.

Ok people.... first off, Led Zeppelin was not an individual, Led Zep was the name of a band, made up of Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and John Bonham..... kind of like how Pink Floyd wasn't the lead singer's name but the band's name. They never conjured up some tobacco smoking cowboy to represent their band, especially considering the band is from England, and they're a rock band, not country.

Secondly, the poster they showed has no relation to Led Zep, nor is it the poster in question of Led Zep... it was a tobacco ad the person in the link decided to use for their example of how bad they thought the Led Zep poster was, but they never actually showed the poster in question, which is where the confusion seems to lie in this debate.

Morality is not the domain of believers, or non believers. There are times when non believers
are morally corrupt, but so are many of the faithful at times even the clergy. That does not make
all believers or non believers morally bankrupt. I don't think a poster of Led Zepplin is the end of
the world either. If we were to become wrapped up in that half the famous artists in general would
run into the pass the muster test
