..didn't separate and the Bloc is now running behind Elizabeth May's party. Quebec came to terms with Canada a couple decades ago and Canada came to terms with Quebec (except for parts of the Western fringe of Canada, who made up their minds three quarters of a century ago that Quebec is an evil place where nothing good ever happens).
Quebec separatism is seriously dead. Alberta separatism will fizzle out when the price of oil goes up and come crawling back when it goes down. Quebec separatism was about language, history, culture. Alberta separatism is about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
Oh, what a goddamned stupid statement. I was born in Quebec, been back many times and Ottawa, especially politicians who were born in Quebec have always kissed the provinces ass. Trudeaus, Mulroney, Martin, Chretien. The West, and this includes Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia have gotten the short end of the stick from Ottawa.
Separation on the part of Quebec politicians has never been about separation, it has always been about leverage. More kickback from Ottawa.
Quebec is not an evil place, it has lots to offer, but up around Quebec City hardcore separatists are far more exclusive and xenophobic than any redneck you'll find in Alberta.
