Do you ever wonder what color God and gender Jesus are?

People who believe in gods fear death and fear lack of control over their lives. By giving the control to "father figure" entity, they are no longer responsible for choices they make, or for the negative things that happen in their lives.

I agree and you may have noted that our friend is trying to transfer that fear into me and it is not working.

That's easy.... Spirits are see-through and sexless

One has to wonder, if God is sexless, where he got the information required to tell humanity what to do with their sexuality.

That is like a blind man trying to show us how to drive.

I'm not sure I believe there is a God, but I used o think there was one and I never visualized what he looked like.

The Church tried hard to keep God from people so that you would pay them to pray for you.

If you were brought up in one of the Christian religion then here is how to further your belief from Jesus' POV.
If you were in some other religion then try to internalise it. If you have no want or need of God then even better.

The thinking shown below is the Gnostic Christian’s goal as taught by Jesus but know that any belief can be internalized to activate your higher mind.

This method and mind set is how you become I am and brethren to Jesus, in the esoteric sense.

When you can name your God, I am, and mean yourself, you will begin to know the only God you will ever find. Becoming a God is to become more fully human and a brethren to Jesus.

No. Jesus, assuming he really existed, would probably have been a swarthy Levantine Jewish male, not the fair European Renaissance prince he's usually depicted as, but so what? I cannot think of any possible characteristic of God or Jesus that matters less than their possible colour and gender, and frankly I think it's a bit silly to even ask the question.

So 95% of the planet has no control over their lives and live in a constant state of fear, boy, you are clueless I'm sorry to say.

Sounds like a pretty accurate description to me. Further, religions are a great way to exercise the basic human desire to split into "us" and "them" and kill "them."

Seriously? You demonstrate your mental superiority with an argumentum ad hominem fallacy?

Why don't you just say something bad about my mom?

I never had the pleasure of conversing with your mom. You however take a stance that 95% of the planet is somehow delusional because they have faith, then you deserve what you get.

OK, so you've moved from the fallacy of argumentum ad hominem to the fallacy of argumentum ad populum. That's a real upgrade.

I also didn't say that belief in a god or gods is delusional, I agreed with Twila that it's based on the common human fears of death and lack of control over their lives.

It's also delusional, mind, but that ain't the argument here. Try to focus.

I can upgrade further, but I fear you won't be able to keep up.

Not this time you didn't (but it surely is implied). You did state that 95% of the planet lives in a state of fear because they believe in a deity of one form or another, that basically translates into the same thing. You really need to get your head out of your *** "oh tolerant one".

It's also delusional, mind, but that ain't the argument here. Try to focus.

If I focus, I will lose you and that is never fun.

See? There's your fears again. I have shown no evidence of being being unable to keep up with identifying your flawed thinking, yet you fear it.

No, I didn't. I said NOTHING about "95% of the planet." You did.

Think I'm wrong? Go back to the thread. Please take careful note that neither Twila nor I ever said "95%." Take equally careful note of exactly who did. You are either lying or simply unable to follow an argument. If applying logical fallacies to false statements is your idea of argumentation, I think we've discovered the problem.

The question was prompted by my conversation with a black person who thought Jesus was black.

I thought that someone would speak to the issue of Christianity doctoring that information just as they did with a lot of the original Christianity.

Jesus may have been made white just because too many white Christians hated blacks. Remember that Christians also tried to take the Jewishness and Jewish beliefs out of Jesus.

A little expensive on Friday nights but what the hell.

Just kidding.
