Cable is dangerous to work around and costly to repair. That could be the price to pay for doing away with the need for hydraulic oil. There's a cost for everything we do.
Or - ?? Are there viable - possibly more costly - vegetable or animal oil alternatives.
Ah - just saw Hoid's post about tractors with electric actuators; very interesting.
Do you have a clue why the whole industry went away from cable? If it was a viable option it would still be used
Again if other types of oil was viable it would be commonly used there is a reason like breakdown of viscosity, plugging filters, contaminating the entire system.
Read his article they are for off road vehicles not practicable for heavy equipment
I also pipeline do you have recommendations for that too?
What do you do for a living so I can give you recommendations for changes to make in your job
"Please tell me how you operate (farm machinery) without hydraulic oil?"
Cables work. That's what was originally used and if you couldn't have hydraulics that's probably what you'd use again.
What a waste of bandwidth, and everybody's time. Go and squabble in the sandbox. Both of you. Please.

And your conversations are more insightful? Why not answer the question so we can open a conversation in your field of work and give uninformed advice and recommendations on how to do it better

comes on one of my threads to tell me to stop wasting his time.

Everybody's time. You title the thread as doing something about plastic, not 2-way petty bickering 'in public' like silly schoolgirls.

But it's your thread sure enough. Have it to yourself and fly at it.

Here is an article on two electric tractors out of California currently for sale in Canada.
https://www.producer.com/2019/04/electric-tractors-hit-canadian-fields-with-a-whir/
"Neither tractor uses hydraulics. Instead, Heckeroth uses electric linear actuators. The ones he installs provide 1,000 pounds of dynamic load and 3,000 lb. static loads.
“We use linear actuators because they are 20 times more efficient than hydraulics and require no toxic fluids,” Heckeroth said.
Wow! Small forklift type loads. Amazing! Call the news, build statues and give out Nobel prizes. Amazazing!

And it still cant pull an 80ft zero till seeding system for 200 hrs non-stop.

So much for this Canadian plan to dispose of plastics
Canadian garbage rotting in Manila violates international law, experts say
why do I pay to give away valuable raw materials that I bought and paid for?

Cardboard is worth 60 cents an lb.

Aluminum 40 cents an lb

Steel 2 cents an lb

Grade A plastic film 16 cents an lb

Grade B 3.5 cents an lb

Grade C 2 cents an lb.

And we waste water we pay for, use our labour to clean it and we pay for the space to store it.

Wicked profits for the Eco-Industrial Complex and Eco-Fascist Corporations.

I'm still trying to visualize a 40 ton excavator with battery powered linear activators. Especially on the travel.
