You see, when making daft comments like "the Colonials saved Britain" you forget that you're many thousands of miles from Germany whereas we're only a few hundred miles away, and that it was the British, not the Canadians and certainly not the Americans, who staved off a German invasion of Britain.

It's true I'm afraid. Unlike the Americans at Pearl Harbour, the British hardly had any ships and troops to defend Singapore as they were all needed back in Europe to fight the Germans.

You were only "alone against Nazi Germany" because you called troops from the Empire British and wouldn't acknowledge their origin for purposes of propaganda (ie bullshytting your citizens)

The vast, vast, VAST majority of all the troops of the great British Empire who saw action in WWII were British. Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, South Africa, etc etc etc were all very much bit-part players and were nothing more than Britain's little obedient pets. For all intents and purposes, Britain fought ALONE against Nazi Germany for much of the early period of WWII.

Even America's contribution to WWII is vastly exaggerated (American historians always like to glorify their history). America was Britain's junior partner when it entered the war in December 1941, with just a TENTH of the number of troops in the field that Britain had. It would remain Britain's junior partner until 1944. Through the war as a whole America's contribution amounted to only about a QUARTER of the Western Allied total and, until mid to late 1944, the American contribution was minimal, and could have been replaced with other countries' troops. In Europe, America's contribution really only became important starting in June 1944, and in Asia starting November 1944.
