Obama did prove one thing though: Lefties favor protectionism while the right favors free trade.

The final version of the United States' $819-billion economic stimulus package will not contain protectionist language, President Barack Obama said Tuesday.

In interviews with major U.S. networks, the president attempted to soothe global concerns that protectionism will be part of the package.

"We can't send a protectionist message," Obama said in an interview with Fox News.

"I think it would be a mistake though at a time when worldwide trade is declining for us to start sending a message that somehow we are just looking after ourselves and not concerned with world trade," he said.

They already know their ass it to the wall, not just with Canada but also with the EU and other nations.... if they allowed this kind of stunt to occur, the US would have been gangbanged by their other trading partners.

I was fairly sure they would back down on this. Mostly because so much of the raw materials and energy necessary to produce "Made in USA" products comes from elsewhere. The comment was primarily a little dig at Sirjosphporter who as you may have noticed is a liberal acolyte.
