It's your fault for failing to properly put down the revolt in the colonys. You owe us money too.

I would say America is the cause of most of our modern problems. In the 20th century it has bombed more countries than any other in history.
WAAAAAAAAAAAA! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
How very cowardly of you Blackleaf. You are on the hot seat and the first thing out of your mouth is
"Blame America"
From one who boasted "The Sun Never sets on the British Empire" you sound very timid.
"Don't pick on me! Pick on him!"
Take your medicine like a man. No wonder it was easy to get our Independence.
you know that's going to get a reaction....whereas Britain gained it's independence from a weak and dying roman empire by the very nature of retreat, America gained her's from a virtual baby of an empire....if you study your history, you will know that the continent of Europe had it's eye on Britain, it realised how powerful it's navy had become and decided to group together to fall on it before it could become the power it eventually became anyway.
It's just very fortunate for the rest of Europe an Englishman (with roots in Lincolnshire actually) decided to gather a few of his wealthy trader friends and throw their toys out of the pram. If it was easy...you'd have won a skirmish on your own.
You had a LOT of help my friend, a LOT of help, never think it was easy or you did it on your own...
well if you call an allience with Spain, France, Portugal and half the holy roman empire on your own thats fine......
My post was mostly tongue in cheek if you will. It was pointing towards a guy who spouts off about the British Empire every chance and when someone posts something blaming the world's woes on the British the first thing he does is say
"It's America's fault"
That to me says "Please leave me alone and pick on him instead." or "Don't take my lunch money... that kid has more."
Now to answer your post saying the Brits gained it's indepedence from Rome... how so? When the Romans left Britain they (Rome) were already on the way down the tube.
I agree wit you that we had help... mostly from the French towards the end. That just sped up the eventual defeat. The Brits had help from the Germans with Hessian troops. They also had loyalist militia. But in the end the we won... fair and square. I said it was easy to rib him a bit as I know it is a sore spot for him.
Never won a skirmish on our own? Most every battle was fought w/o the help of foreign armies. The first battle fought was a total rout. Lexington and Concord. The redcoats got splattered all the way from Concord to Boston.
I'm with you on that one.Probably isn't going to stop anytime soon either.I would say America is the cause of most of our modern problems. In the 20th century it has bombed more countries than any other in history.
Sins of the father ...........And America, founded by Englishmen, based on English principles....
Yeah. The state France is in is very good evidence of French intelligence.Hehh Heee giggle snort.
Thanks ML, that's the best laugh I've had all week!
Blackleaf's attempt at dodging the issue aside, I agree with him a bit. One can't forge ahead much by looking backkwards. Try driving by looking in the rearview mirror. What's important is current and future times and not to repeat old mistakes. Ooooops, the US blew it there. It's empire building schemes will cuse more grief just like the Brit's plans did.
America is an exception to history.
Unlike the Greek or Roman empires, America is never going to die, I see America as the world power till the end of time.
And yes there will be an end of time.
Well, I don't know about you but I think Canada, nice as it is, is in a pretty sorry state. Same with the US. Internal problems galore.I agree, but just remember, the US and Canada....along with a great many other democratic countries are a result of that empire building today....cant all be bad can it?

Quite. If it keeps ignoring its internal problems eating away the guts and concentrating on external matters, there won't be much of anything left once someone decides to poke the balloon with a pin. For instance, look at the place since 9/11. What's been spent on fixing up the inside in comparison to having been spent on outside matters? It's a pretty large fraction. Yet, there are more homeless than before, systems are ailing, crime is rampant, etc. I would suggest the best thing to do would be to tuck tail in and say," to hell with the rest of the planet", and fix the yard and the house up.that's just crazy....nothing ever last forever my friend
