Good. Then IP, would you please explain to me what a hoor is?
I also admit that I too wondered if that word meant wh ore since I have never seen the word hoor before. I also admit then to never ever wondering (until last night) what a "hoor" is. Since it was Liberalman and not me who used it - let's ask him what a hoor is. :?:
As an aside, it would not let me use even part of the word I wanted to use so maybe that's why it was spelled the way it was and it's why I have spelled it like I have.

Tounge? What is that? Some weird kind of object one sits on? At least that's what I thought when I saw the "word" first. According to one of my kids, "tounge" is bad spelling for the wiggly things in people's mouths called "tongues".

The only way we are going to settle this to Y.J.'s satisfaction is to bring in Karrie with her great insight and wisdom- I'm sure even Y.J. would listen to her ....................YOO HOO KARRIE, we need help here..........

Oh... I thought my ears were tingling.

My personal take on the thread title....

I thought it was just trolling for a reaction from the religious crowd, given the timing, and the insensitivity of it. As a religious person, I simply thought a little less of the author, and moved on.

But as someone who appreciates language and meaning, the thread title picked my butt because it makes no sense. No one publicly murders language in order to drive home a point to others. There are words other than crucify that do make sense in the context of what the thread claims to be trying to explore. But the fact that they chose a word that makes no sense in the context, just goes to prove the point that they are being sensationalist and looking for a rise out of the religious.

I was baffled by that reference as well! Could it be Liberalman misspelt "hewers"? My family weren't hewers, they were drawers.

lol
We are mostly hewers. Made lots of toothpicks.
Then you will both have the environmentalists after you. One of you chopping down trees and the other using the paper from them to draw on!! 8O:p

Good response, Karrie, Y.J. will be happier now. I was just using "crucifiction" as a metaphor, Jesus was just one example of a crucifiction, so I don't think the word should solely be associated with Him. By that reasoning if I was to say "murdering the English language" that would be just as offensive. Have a happy Easter.

Actually, you (and I had to read back to see who'd originally posted it) were the one that associated crucifixion with Christ in this context. You specifically stated that it was because it was Good Friday. The connection was all yours.

Who else's business it, what a person's religious orientation is and for all we know maybe he considers going rabbit hunting a festivity and gets enjoyment out of it.

JLM, 'trashing" is another word you could have used.

Let us just agree that your choice of words was at best insensitive. Had anyone used a similarly offensive and insensitive word in relation to gays, Blacks, etc., that person would be booted from the Forum post haste.

One has to wonder what would be said if Cliffy was terrorized by gays as a child. Of course, seeing as his terror stems from the Catholic Church and given their history....

It's called trolling.
