Thing 2 (the girl child) eats maple syrup on her eggs and sausages. I do not discourage this behaviour, as I didn't want to stifle her creativity.

Besides, it doesn't taste half bad! (Unless it's eggs benedict. Maple syrup + hollandaise sauce = bad... very very bad)

I agree. Breaky of anything goes well with maple syrup. Eggs Benny and Hollandaise one of few exceptions.

I wouldn't use 'creative' to describe myself but there are times when I surprise myself with a little flash of creativity. I think creativity really plays a strong card in my ringette game and even when dealing with clients especially difficult ones! I am definitely not creative in any artistic way although my stick men do have a certain flare about them!

In what ways are you creative?
What an interesting question. I've never asked myself that before, never thought about what I do in those terms, and it took me about 24 hours of reflecting on it to come up with an answer.

I play guitar and sing, mostly for myself because I find it cathartic and relaxing, and I play and sing stuff other people have written, I don't create my own songs. I have been known to put on a show around a campfire, but mostly the only audience is me, or me and my wife. But when I play and sing a Stan Rogers song (I courted my wife with his stuff), or a Bruce Springsteen song, or a Bob Dylan song, I don't do it the way they did it, I have my own spin on it. My phrasing is different, my accompaniment is different... does that count? I think it does.

I'm also a carpenter. And an electrician. And a plumber. What I am in that context, really, is an experienced and knowledgeable home handyman. I've built garden sheds, decks, garages, fences, desks, chairs, bookshelves, wall units, I've turned basements like concrete caves into livable spaces, all to my own designs. I guess that counts too.

And I read and write and think a lot, as anybody who hangs around these forums can attest, and sometimes I have original thoughts that I share here. That must count too.

A superlative question triedit, thanks for asking and making me think about it. You've made me feel pretty good about myself. I hope to return the favour some day.

I'm not very creative at all. I'm more of a ho-hum bah-humbug type of person. Boring and dry is I.

Although some would accuse me of being creative in my views on the truth. But I insist that it is they who are being creative, as there is nothing inherently creative in telling it like it is.

Creative cooking. Put some cheese twists in a bowl, I use the soft ones due to my teeth, or lack thereof. Add a big spoonful of peanut butter and some hot salsa. Microwave until pnut butter melts. Hey, don't knock it until you've tried it. The worst part is cleaning the bowl afterwards.

Also sort of creepy. Not because you purport to do it, but merely because it is an idea you truly have.

I don't suppose too many of the female persuasion are overly flattered by the prospect of having one collect her, shall we say, uglies.

I paint once in a while.

Carve once in a while.

Sculpt once in a while.

Write once in a while.

Whip together odd meals once in a while.

Plan intimate evenings for hubby and I once in a while.

Come up with new ways to tackle parenting troubles.

Find ways to stretch the budget around the holidays.

Find ways to comfort and aid friends who are too far away for a hug.

Find ways to create a kitchen when I have no cabinetry and no money to spend on a temporary fix.

Find ways to make a rotted out bathroom work for bathing kids, yet still be something I can clean, when again I have no money on a temporary fix.

Find ways to decorate the house that don't involve a tree/knickknacks/anything that takes up space (started painting the window mural on Thursday).

Everyone is creative in a million different ways every single day I think.

I do oil painting.............I also paint with acrylics....Mostly landscapes and seascapes. I've done most of the cooking at our house for about twenty five years. It started when traffic and distance got me home about an hour before my wife. It seemed logical that I should start dinner and it grew from there. I rarely use a recipe. Once you know how much cooking something needs, you don't need a recipe. I just have a look at the available ingredients and start Don't get me wrong. My wife still does most of the baking and she can turn out a great meal. I just don't think she gets off on planovers etc. When I worked I was a mechanical engineer and I can handle just about any plumbing, or electrical problem around the house. My creativity doesn't extend to doing the dishes if I can get out of it........

At first, I thought that I had done nothing creative at all. And then, I finally found the answer...

The only things that popped into my head are that I'm creative in...

- writing, (at times and if I feel like it)
- coming up with new advice for people
- dramatic arts, (I'm really good at expressing myself with people and such)

Sal - there's no way someone who writes as eloquently and entertainingly as you do can fairly call themselves uncreative.
Aw thanks Zan, I love ya forever... cheque's in the mail. :D

Rotted out bathroom? No kitchen? No cabinetry?

My first quess was that you lived at a gas station. But then you said that you had no money, so I scrapped the gas station idea. I now think that you and your family are squatting in a public library somewhere. That would explain everything you have posted above.

Rotted out bathroom... Yup, that's a public library.
No kitchen... Yup, that's a public library.
No money... Yup, that's a public library.
Lots of time to spend on the Internet... Yup, that's a public library.
No cabinetry... Yup, that's a public library.

Tell me, do you find that you have a great deal of reading material? And do you find that you have more shelves than you know what to do with?

I find lots of ways to express my creativity, but two of my favorites are organization and planning. I plan things out to the nth degree. As many possibile variations I try to consider and implement a stratedgy to deal with the little eventualities. Most often, things go smoothly.

I like Dexter play music and again like him, I like to change the arrangement of a tune and make it my own interpretation.

I like photography and capturing something special beyond the contents of the subject matter. Sometimes I actually manage that.

I live with an artist. Not a casual painter or wordsmith or sculptor but a manic productive seer that is in a constant state of producing something. While that is creative, you may be wondering just where I come in. Someone has to find a place to put it all and keep this crazy train on the tracks. I provide and enable. Putting all the parts needed in the space she will be in and removing the little barriers from her way so that she can lose herself in what she is creating. Sometimes that takes a lot of inventiveness to make happen. heh heh

As well I record some original experimental music and have a project in the works for a projection screen video accompaniment to run in sync with some somgs I play.

I like to garden and cook too! :)

Yes, tons of books and magazines.

My kitchen is entirely mad up of cleverly arranged shelving units at the moment.

Hmmm..... I never noticed the similarities before! lol.

Creativity...
I am a technical writer and a translator, so I guess all of my creativity goes into my job
Besides, I am thinking about writing a book, so I will soon find out just how creative I am.
