Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

Sorry to hear it, where were you headed? I'm not much of a traveler, really stick close-ish to home. Luckily the Rockies are in my backyard and so I do like to head there for a mental break with my camera from time to time.
Banff??

When we lived in Calgary....Banff was a regular weekend destination.

Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

Well I just got home from my shopping in the Mile - first trip to town in a month and I needed TP as well a few other essentials. Also had to do my laundry. So much for social distancing or whatever you want to call it. Saw several groups of young people wandering about having a grand old time. The grocery stores were going their level best but there were still lots of people who didn't seem to give a damn. But what really got my attention were all the AB license plates in town - counted over a dozen of them. WTF??
Locally, in the Eagle Creek/Hawkins Lake area any cottagers stupid enough to come up are being met with walls of ice barring their driveways - left from the snow that plows had piled up over the winter and mounds of snow in their yards. Good frickin' luck to them. Took the back road home and there is still many areas where ice and snow cover the road. The lakes are all still frozen over and temps are still freezing at night though the days have warmed up a bit.

Guess the idea is to get out of the more populated cities, and sleep in their cars/trucks in front of their driveways.

Banff is beautiful and we do go there but not too often. I like heading up to Kananaskis, love the drive along highway 40, Barrier Lake is so beautiful. Then head up to the Highwood Pass. It's just breathtaking up along there. The pass is closed off though until the middle of June I think, then you can drive up. But it's a favourite haunt of mine, for many reasons.

Finally warmed up here in the past two days. I'm going to plant lettuce and Swiss Chard tomorrow. That stuff is oblivious to a little frost. :)

Oh man....fresh toasted sourdough with cherry jam. Second to milk & cookies as my favourite meal.

Sourdough is about the healthiest choice for bread. Tastes good too.

Pure almond butter with fresh strawberries and banana.

Same here. Kids don't care.

Have noticed Quebec license plates here. I would put stock in it but a lot of rental cars here have Quebec plates. Asked the agent once and he just said they wind up with a lot which were registered in Quebec. I wonder if your AB license plates might be something similar? I am wondering if the rental car companies may be playing with costs of registrations in various provinces to save a buck?

Or maybe you do have people coming from AB.

I can pretty well guarantee you 99.9% of cars with AB plates are legitimately owned by AB residents. (If you are ever in doubt just pay attention to their driving) :) :)
