Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'
I was phoning around today to check up on my elderly friends to see how they are and if they need anything. One of them just got back from town - he needed some groceries. Well good luck on that. No meat, few veggies and lots of bare shelves. He came back with two items on his list. I'm getting a bit low on a few items, meat and veggies mostly. Decided to call our local Save-On to see when they would have more supplies. Not until sometime tomorrow - hopefully, is what the customer service rep told me. Our other major grocery store FreshCo is out of meat and poultry. No milk, cream or eggs either. Okay, I thought I'll check Save-On in Willy's Puddle - an extra hour of driving but worth it if I could get my groceries. No luck there either. No meat on the shelves, very few veggies and again, they might get a supply truck tomorrow but no guarantee. As a last resort, I called an independent grocer in 100 Mile to see if they had any of the items I need - nope and no idea when they too might get some more supplies.
Apparently, there have been line-ups at Save-On every single day for the past week. Where are all the people coming from? 100 Mile and area are not that heavily populated so I have to wonder where all these panicky shoppers are coming from or if it's just the same ones day after day? In the meantime, a friend has offered to give me some meat as he has a freezer full and won't take a single cent. I wish there were more people around here who had his attitude and thought of others.
As for that idiot trudeau's announcement today about the borders, I get allowing supplies to come in but see absolutely no reason to allow American citizens to come into our country at this time. Let's get a handle on this before encouraging anyone to come for a visit.
