Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

It is what it is . The death toll is far , far below the most modest predictions by the so called experts . We have killed our economy , shouldered our grand children with our load , given more of our freedoms away , for what ? Shit we have just shown the world we will meekly let our government lead us to the box cars .
The death of our economy is greatly exaggerated. Everything seems to be fine so long as the various governments keep pumping money into everything.

Government bailouts: not just for the oil industry anymore.

Don't get too carried away. The day is still to come when the piper has to be paid, I don't know about you but I don't have much money to pay him. I'm not sure what activity Justin is assigning the money to, but by rights it should be "re election expenses".

500 military members used to operate Toronto-area old folks homes are finishing up and leaving town.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/toronto-military-covid-1.5621417

As a native Ontarian I could not be more ashamed of the state of health care in my old home province. The quasi-privatization of services has led to deplorable neglect and inhuman conditions all in the name a saving a few bucks so Premier Ford can drive around in a nifty super van!

Ontario is a failure and the saddest part is that Quebec is worse.

I am proud of my adopted home in BC which has handled this crisis so well

Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

Well so far only 231 new cases east of Saskatchewan. Quebec had only 69 new cases. The number of active cases has fallen below 29,000 for the first time since the beginning of May.

Meanwhile in America, they have 1,255,000 active cases.

This means that America has nearly 44 times the active cases as Canada does, with 8.7 times the population.

This means in America, they are 5 times more likely to be infected with COVID than in Canada.
Possibly, but there are other fractures . I.e. the number of tests ,higher population density etc.

Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

it;s due to Canada responding fat better than the USA.

Americans are not as smart as Canadians.
Americans are smart enough......no problem there. But they are a LOT more brainwashed into believing certain things about their country and themselves that simply are not rue. The most divisive thing in their country is that they have a two a=party system......... The divisions just flow from there. It promotes a binary way of thinking. Enter a POTUS who is prone to divining .........and the fissures widen with folks digging in on their side.

Under effective leadership......they might be doing better in managing their pandemic. Even if the Medical team had been allowed to continue with their regular update and recommendations for the public.......it might have been better.... But Trump got jealous of the attention and respect they were getting...... and started to trash them........ and now they rarely appear in public. But are the Americans wise/ mature enough to see the deficiency in his leadership o r will they be bound by some party loyalty.....

Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

California, Texas, Arizona, and Florida are now the COVID hotspots in the USA.
And that is a LOT..... Too bad they are not inclined to look a t their own behavior and how it might be contributing to this. From the top down.......they seem more interested in playing the blame game.or live in denial. If their "leader" down plays it........why should they take it seriously??

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to connect what is happening on the political scene in the U.S. with what is going to be the medical outcome, which may be only a short step from aiding and abetting manslaughter.

Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

I guess the protestors are not immune after all

Activists halt street protests in South Carolina as some demonstrators become infected

South Carolina racial justice activists said they would postpone future demonstrations or move them online after at least 13 people who took part in previous protests tested positive for the coronavirus.

As the number of cases across the country continued to climb ominously Monday, organizers of “I Can’t Breathe” protests in South Carolina urged participants to get tested for the virus.

In a video posted Sunday on Facebook, organizer Lawrence Nathaniel said demonstrators who marched in Columbia, S.C., between May 30 and June 17 had tested positive. He said four organizers were confirmed infected, along with three photographers and six protesters.

“We need to do our part,” he said. “Go get tested. Don’t come to a protest until you get tested, okay?”

Nathaniel’s caution came as 29 U.S. states and territories reported increases in their seven-day averages of new confirmed cases and daily totals continued to approach record levels not seen since March and April. Public health authorities blamed virus-fatigued states that reopened before they had vanquished the virus while leaders of some of those states cited other factors. ......More

Many more people are being tested positive , but how many are getting sick ? And how many require hospitalization? We really don’t see much of those numbers and as testing appears to be more readily available more and more are tested . Is there really another huge spike or are we just finding more unsystematic cases ?
