Re: COVIDD-19 'Pandemic'

Talking about the NHS: we're 25 minutes away from 8pm when, every Thursday, people come outdoors and do the national clap for the NHS. I've been hearing it every Thursday at 8pm for the last few weeks now even when indoors: loads of clapping and cheering, pots and pans being clanged and even fireworks.

Good, NHS and medical people everywhere get shit on so much... it's good they're finally being appreciated all over the world.

Here we go! Fireworks, clanging and cheering outside.

Can't actually see the fireworks, though, because it's still daylight.

Shame on the people who hired the workers for not looking local first.

Shame on the locals for not seeing a job available and stepping up to go work it.

Same issue in the US (ironically farm workers from out of the US are exempt from the immigration ban), but it's the same reason why they were hired to begin with. Only the foreign workers want to work the 'shit jobs' while rest of society wants a 9-5, 5 day a week holidays, vacation, benefits type of job. Oh, and one that won't risk them for Covid.
So what kind of job do you have nurse Serryah ?

Nope, all necessary treatments and surgery's are happening.
I know of a baby that was born with hip displacement issues and she is brought into children's every week to have the harness adjusted.
My oldest had issues which they were concerned was a possible brain tumor, got in right away for a cat scan and found that he had an infection causing swelling in his brain which he is being treated for.
So, no issues here. If you're having issues there, its nhs.... and I do mean IF.

From the National Post:

‘I’m kind of scared’: Surgery for cancer patients and others cancelled as hospitals brace for possible COVID-19 wave

By the way, Britain's health service is regularly seen as the best in the world, according to studies.

Yes you are technically correct , but there are lots of surgeries being suspended and hospital visits are monitored prior to entry . Doctors are teleconferencing with their patients , Dentists are all closed and taking emergencies only . Not all is well .

But the guy said he was going to study with a nicotine patch and was convinced it was the nicotine that was the factor. Let me re-read because that was the takeaway I got from it.

ETA: I have re-read both your study and BL's and cannot find that statement. Not sure how I came away with it.

Still not worth trashing your lungs because it helps this particular virus.
No but if you do anyway the virus might not get you .

Alberta’s top doctor is urging smokers to quit, as new research suggests smoking and vaping can increase both the risk of contracting COVID-19 and of having more serious complications from the virus.

“As you know, COVID-19 is a respiratory virus,” Alberta’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw said Tuesday.

Well unfortunately a lot of the Trump supporters are pushing for Ending the Lockdown..
Like Wally, Walmart.
I want to protect the old, and immune deficient. We need to as a society keep care of the most in jeopardy. It's selfish otherwise.
Can’t care for them without money.

All necessary, as in life threatening, surgery's are a go. Non life threatening surgery's have been put off. Stupid.
Tell a hip patient it’s not necessary to replace his hip.

As Canadian doctors brace for the full surge of the COVID-19 tsunami, its ripples are already causing delays in cancer care.

The pandemic has created surreal experiences for everyone, including the 617 people in this country who are diagnosed with cancer each day on average, according to the Canadian Cancer Society.

"My biggest fear would be the collateral damage caused by the pandemic and the collateral damage is something like cancer care," said Dr. Jory Simpson, a surgeon at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto who treats breast cancer.

Cara Heitmann, 53, of Toronto had her breast reconstruction cancelled and her mastectomy that was scheduled for next week is being postponed.

"I'm angry and I'm scared," said Heitmann, who lives alone and runs her own business. "I don't know if or when I will have surgery. I don't know if the cancer will spread. I don't know if it will metastasize. I don't know if I will survive this."

Heitmann said she has access to her surgeon's case notes that list her as a priority case. "I haven't been told what is now my prognosis."

Here in Ontario the line has been moving. Some cancer surgeries were originally being postponed. But they have relaxed a bit. But there was a point where cancer surgeries were being deferred. Personally, I would classify these as life threatening.
