I must say that it is a refreshing change to have a PM who is so open with the media and the public. It truly is a stark contrast to the structured media events that was the norm with Mr Harper. Until watching news clips of Justin and his father over the years, I had forgotten that our PM-elect grew up with media attention. I think he will be very comfortable on the world stage - now just what he plans to do when he gets there..............that has yet to be seen.

Justin trudeau will now move back into the house where he was born.

I wonder what his dad would have thought about his oldest son's accomplishments, its
sad that he isn't here to enjoy the moment.

he is my PM.

for the love of the constitution, and everything it means, congratulations Mr. Trudeau, congratulations to Canadians.
Proud to be Canadian.

All well and good. He will be mine too as a Canadian once the Head of State has invited him to form the next government. This will happen shortly after the current Prime Minister visits Rideu Hall and informs the GG of his intention to resign as Prime Minister.

Justin has got a lot to prove yet & I'm already hearing rumblings (unsubstantiated as yet) he may not be off to a very good start. For the sake of Canada and Canadians I hope he does well. Maybe he will rethink a couple of his ideas!

The only redeeming value in all this depressing news is that liberals are notorious liars so with luck he won't inflict many of his policies on us.

I think you may be on to something, taxslave. Sometimes things aren't what they seem. We'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

Is he our youngest PM? Anyone?

In a couple of weeks he will be the second youngest. Joe Clark was 39!

Congratulations!
Now we hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
I have always wondered why any sane person would seek the position of PM. It is a very stressful, difficult and thankless job. I think there's something basically wrong with such people. They're looking for adulation and self aggrandization but that's only a fleeting thing.
It must be devastating when the bubble finally bursts (and it always does)

I put more stock in watching the "walk" than hearing the "talk". It's easy to be a nice guy while you are still in "talk" mode! :)

On C.B.C. radio right now the Conservative "post mortem" is being discussed. The consensus appears to be that they were strong on substance and weak on tone. I think they've probably nailed. Harper for all his good points was never particularly optimistic or enthusiastic & sometimes his approach lacked balance. To wit, with the missing and murdered women- I know he was concerned enough to hang the perpetrators if apprehended, but was hesitant about starting the search. Anyway he has 4 years to look at mending his ways. Maybe this post is a little off topic but Justin does have Harper to thank for his position today.
