It does wonders for the confidentiality of this two-bit joint for future customers, wondering if their anonymity could be revealed by another in-patient or do-dooder 'counselor'. .

bush league all the way.

star shoulda just said 'thanks but no thanks' for the gossip.
Agreed...this should NEVER have made the paper but he is a larger than life figure and people are fascinated by him for the good or the bad.

As soon as I read that a staff member spoke through another party due to privacy issues you have to wonder in a big way how this whole story was revealed.

Any company or organization that has privacy restrictions can not reveal information. Nothing can be leaked and I do mean nothing. To judge the detox center is equally wrong because it assumes breach of privacy. For all we know it could have been a cleaner walking down the hall who heard two counselors discussing their frustration...or it may never have occurred at all.

This is further evidence of his attempt to fool his constituents into thinking he is a changed person. This is but another chapter of the charade Rob Ford lives in.
this really is further evidence of nothing

do I believe he is clean...mmmmmmmmmmm don't know, having dealt with drug abusers, I doubt it, but it is possible...it's not however probable in my limited experience

it's an invasion of privacy...if he has not properly recovered he will display it quickly enough...no need to lower journalistic integrity to this level

I'm beginning to have a real problem with articles connected to the left or right...

I think we are in big trouble when simple news articles have an agenda and they all do now

It's as though we have lost our capacity for the quest for truth, rather it is more important to belong to a group and deride the other side. I see it as an attack on democracy ultimately...we will end up in a very bad place of no return.

With the star, they have sunk below this level many times. In my mind, they are no longer a credible new source just a enquirer type tabloid with a lieberal spin.

are there any credible news sources left...are there any journalists left? a reporter pressured to produce a story does not a journalist make

Lefties always breach confidentiality
righties always try to make lefties look bad in order to boost themselves up from the lowest rung on the ladder...it doesn't work...:p

This has nothing to do with left or right. I am in the undecided camp in the mayoral race. But I think the Star has done stuff to Ford that should not be acceptable with a credible source. They didn't just report the story they have tried to make a story and do stuff like the enquirer and paparatzi have done. So they have no more respect from me than the national enquirer.

And they have done nothing with this reporting to alter my opinion. I have however developed a rather negative opinion of the rehab centre.

but that isn't fair at this point either...we don't know a thing about it, they may well have discredited an amazing facility

if you read the article carefully it's just vapish conjecture

I don't actually read the star. I used to get it for the Saturday comics but I could not justify giving them any money based upon their credibility so I cancelled. Same reason I don't buy the gossip rags at the checkout stand.

But from what has been reported from the interview on BT with the Star reporter, he says he got it from sources at the clinic. This means that people at the clinic, although to cowardly to do it publicly, are providing reports on what I would assume to be confidential matters that happened at the clinic. This reflects badly on the clinic. It reflects badly on the Star.

Now should the clinic do a housecleaning, perhaps my opinion would change.

Confidentiality is the basic premise for full recovery. Who is going to opem up if there's a reason to believe their secrets will become public knowledge. IF someone spoke to the press, heads should roll.

If somebody didn't and the Star reporter is making stuff up, then yes they have sunk to an even lower depth. I think even the National Enquirer has some sources even if they are crazy.

so what was reported about Ford is bogus but his claim of source is not?

No, I do not agree that it means that "credible people" from the clinic spoke out at all..it is assumptive...anyone in a professional capacity is not going to risk their career and personal reputation speaking to some cub reporter even through another source...their jobs depend upon the integrity of their work

what if I am sweeping the floor and over hear a conversation or discussion...or serving tables in the cafeteria and over hear a conversation....I seriously doubt they have sigend off on confidentiality...at least not up until now...

to tar this facility at this point is wrong

That's why the heavy 'IF'.

I can't really believe the facility would speak of in-patient behaviours without presentation of a Court Order. It's easy to believe Ford could be a jerk and that's the angle I think The Star is playing. When you've got a bone ... run with it.

Damn! I just supported Ford

There are 2 possibilities:

1. The clinic or staff did leak the info and the Star ran with it (showing questionable judgement). In this case, the clinic is clearly in the wrong.
2. They did not and the Star completely fabricated it. Clinic not in wrong but Star is so far down the s-h-i-t-hole they would be swimming for days to see the light of day.

And yes, I do not find the allegations difficult to believe but as somebody did mention, this would be expected if he was going through rehab. He isn't gonna change his personality just his bad habits -- if rehab is successful.
