This is the point I am really driving at. While there are well documented examples of violence in the name of some religion, by in large, those are relics from a dark past that is now ancient history... It is very clear that the position of a number of posters is founded on much rhetoric and intangible arguments that have little contemporary relevance. Case in point, Spade sees fit to base Hitler's "Final Solution" as an expression of Christianity as opposed to the real underlying reasons that have no basis on mainstream theological ideology.
That said, is it not fair that I ask the very same questions of any other philosophy or belief system (incl. atheism) in reference to specific events or is that privilege granted to only those that wish to sit on the sidelines and berate all those that don't hold the same values as them?
