He is also a DP just like all the other immigrants but with white supremest tendencies.

I thought that the expression "DP" (displaced person) became obsolete by the late 1960's. 'Just like all the immigrants'?

Having said that, let me assume the role of a liberal: This article is nothing but vicious, racist stereo-typing. But not as bad as Cliffy's comment.

The Chinese and other immigrants have a limited view of the armed forces. Some people in there make great money, have great careers, and get great pensions. Plus when they get out of the army, employers want to hire them because they are can-do guys. These people know how to work the system.

Just because foreigners have been in the country for three years, get a piece of paper, doesn't mean they know much about Canada. A good article I guess to show how Chinese are really newcomers to the country and on the outs overall. The media likes to push the idea that once you're a citizen, you're a totally assimilated Canadian. Not.

The greatest Canadians we have in Canada are Military and ex military people.
Just a slightly biased opinion.

We are all DPs or descendents of DPs here. How is that racist? Actually, it is the aboriginal population that has been displaced. Most of us or our ancestors came here voluntarily.

Confederation in 1867 was not the result of a war. Our political culture is not war oriented. Canada is one of the few countries without guys sitting on horses are all over the place in parks and squares. We fought wars all over the world for the empire, but not in Canada from 1867.

The war of 1812? A distant two century old memory, and being almost 3000 miles away from BC, not that relevant. Canada really has much more geography than history.

Actually, at Queen's Park in Toronto, there is about three statues with guys sitting on horses, one being a distant king from years back.

I thought DP stood for delayed pioneer.

Ummm, Upon careful reflection, I am thinking that only ex-military personnel should be able to hold a Fed Gov office of Minister.

OK, so there's one or two men on horses in eastern Canada, that's not many. In Vancouver, far as I know, there are zilch. That's not too many either. It's tough to find anyone who died up to the meetings that made Confederation and Canada in 1867. The year 1867 is key, that is the year that Canada began as we know it. We all happily drink this kool-aid because it is our story.

Pre-1867 Canada is a vague and nebulous concept. Specific groups like to look farther back, like the military, but it doesn't add up to much amongst us unwashed masses. They have the wrong kind of kool-aid, we spit it out.

You can't just ignore what came before 1867 as it was those events which led to Confederation. Canada didn't just spring out of nowhere in 1867.

I don't like kool-aid. Too much sugar.

We satisfy our endless needs and
justify our bloody deeds,
in the name of destiny and the name of God

And you can see them there,
On Sunday morning
They stand up and sing about
what it's like up there
They call it paradise
I don't know why
You call someplace paradise,
kiss it goodbye

You two guys are so logical, correct, proper, and wrong. Countries ignore many things that do not go with its cultural flow. You can see the trees but not the forest. It's why we let Quebec pave over the Plains of Abraham, the huge victory of 1759 that determined our fate and made us British and not French. Who cares, and we're not British any more, and there was no Canada in 1759 so it fades away, it no longer has any meaning to us. Call it cultural amnesia/censorship.
