While the rest of the world moves forward on Environmentally friend tech, the USA under Trump is running full throttle in reverse... but the millionaires got their tax breaks, so everything is A-OK..

Once again, Canada misses the boat. Not too long ago I wrote a letter to the Ontario Liberals about leading the way in reducing CO2 if they were truly serious about it and provide decent paying jobs at the same time.
There are now at least 2 methods of "recycling" CO2 and breaking it down into more useful components. Both methods are energy intensive but Ontario has loads of clean energy capacity between it's nuclear and hydroelectric generation, most of which is being wasted by exporting it south at a loss. Quebec could also pull it off with it's massive hydroelectric capacity. But nah, our govts' solution is to keep taxing us. That'll make the "problem" go away. Just another example of how these Liberal govts aren't really interested in reducing GHGs as making money from it. It's just a great excuse to finally tax us for the very air we breathe. Remember when that joke used to go around? It's not so funny now.

Christ, there's even a Japanese brewer that's using captured CO2 to brew its beer.
What's Canada doing? Tax and spend it somewhere else while deciding we need more pipelines, a massive mining operation in Ontario as well as releasing land up north for more cattle farming. Oh yeah, some great environmental initiatives there from a pair of govts that are sooooooo concerned about the climate.

There was a large reward offered awhile back for any company that could offer a use for the carbon.

Wonder if they won?

Good on them!

Here's a small sample of how many coal plants there are in the world today.

The EU has 468 plants building 27 more for a total of 495

Turkey has 56 plants building 93 more total 149

South Africa has 79 building 24 more total 103

India has 589 building 446 more total 1036

Philippines has 19 building 60 more total 79

South Korea has 58 building 26 more total 84

Japan has 90 building 45 more total 135

AND

CHINA has 2363 building 1171 total 3534

But here come our CANADIAN politicians that are going to shut down our 15 remaining plants and save the planet !!

I think the only place that uses such technology is Saskatchewan. I think they have a huge project near Estivan. Only thing wrong with it is it doesn't collect no tax.

If we could only pay the carbon tax with carbon
All would be well

X Prize is the organization that was offering a $20mill prize for whomever can come up with the best way to turn the waste emissions from the burning of fossil fuels into a valuable product.

China Seeks Mastery of Carbon Capture and Storage

Health, soil and water

Then there are environmental concerns. In a report issued in 2009, Greenpeace International called carbon capture and storage technology a "false hope" to save the climate, saying that "safe and permanent storage of CO2 cannot be guaranteed."

Greenpeace argued that while it is not currently possible to quantify the exact risks, any CO2 leakage from underground has the potential to affect the surrounding environment, raising the dangers of polluted soil and water, and even suffocation.

However the truth is a little different then the head line I guess...
Like all this carbon tax screw job is.

The article in the OP isn't about coal power plants, it's about taking the carbon out of coal to fuel plants.
lol

The Yanchang Integrated Carbon Capture and Storage Project, located in the Shaanxi Province, will be China’s first investment in a facility that turns carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from coal into gas fuel plants. Once fully operational, it would capture about 400,00 to 800,000 tons of CO2 every year, according to AFR Weekend. That’s about the same reduction that could be expected by taking 80,000 cars off the streets for a year
https://futurism.com/electric-space-tug-could-make-moon-flights-more-economical-than-ever/

china has 70 million vehicles this year.
LOL
Even if they get all 8 plants up this will make that 69.36 million.
Not much of a change really in the grand scheme of things

BUT IT WONT CHANGE THE OUTPUT OF ANT COAL POWER PLANTS AT ALL

Great, now plants will end up eating themselves or maybe just change their diet to O2 and that should solve the problem, . . . permanently.

have you seen the pictures from Bejing?

Beijing Air Pollution: Real-time PM2.5 Air Quality Index (AQI)

Compare it to your city. Mine shows as 22. Oh and check out some of the other cities in China. fun little website really

they need something desperately. If they could make money sucking up the pollution? they might get rich from Bejing alone.
