As the anti-Americans here have pointed out, the US has made some sleazy deals in the past, first in fighting global communism at all costs, and later in pursuit of "American interests". That being said, the US has gotten cleaner over the past couple decades. China has not, and further to that is the old (and at times rather trite) truism that two wrongs don't make a right.
I don't see a war with China as inevitable, in large part because they are making too much money from the West and getting what they need. A war means all that debt goes away as the indebted nations confiscate it. It also means all that western money being spent on Chinese products goes away. It may mean some consumer products are in short supply for a period of time but China is not self sustaining, as their thirst for foreign resources shows. Finally, with the nuclear arsenals, a war with China would end up in a MAD scenario, unless someone bent a knee very quickly.
