Suspect that the ones that are against monarchy might have feelings of jealousy as they would kill for what they PERCIEVE is a royal lifestyle

When you said this of me, I seem to recall you suggesting that I believed my ancestry was inferior. You left that part out in your latest assessment of anti-monarchists.

I met the Dutch princess last year ... she seemed like a regular person, but I did notice her very expensive shoes. I think it's important for countries to have representatives ... and why not let them be families that rose to the top of the heap over the centuries.

Queen Beatrix and family used to live in Stornoway during WW2 and has been the Opposition Leaders residence ever since.

These days Jack Lenin lives there and right across the street, his neighbour is the Iranian Ambassador to Canada.

"In fact they are one of the most dysfunctional families on the planet."- I'd bet there's scads of families who love a chance at that degree of dysfunctionality!

You should add "through violence, theft and murder."

Perhaps ... but how else does one end up at the top of the heap if they are not more capable under the laws of the times. The Dutch royal family went to England when Napoleon forced the Dutch to speak French in the early 1800s. When it was safe to return, the Dutch were happy to have the House of Orange restored. The Dutch royal family went to Canada during WW2 and were welcomed back when it was safe. It's not always violence, theft and murder that puts some families at the top.

When Princess Magriet was born in Canada during WW2, the Ottawa hospital was temporarily made extraterritorial so she could inherit only the nationality of her mother ... that is the Princess I met last year.

That's right, the hospital was declared to be Dutch territory, so that she was born in the right place.

Seems to me, that's one of the origins of all the tulips in Ottawa, isn't it?

The Slavey (also Slave) are a First Nations aboriginal people of the Dene group, indigenous to the Great Slave Lake region, in Canada's Northwest Territories, and extending into northeastern British Columbia and northwestern Alberta.
Did any of them get an invite to stay on the Yacht until their houses were rebuilt? This is still Britiana rules the waves, that trip was a last minute thing, for whatever reason, photo op most likely. Slave Lake will remember the visit, do you think they will even remember one name?

would you? or do you have a photographic memory, how would you expect them to remember the names,
why would they have to, their presence there was memorable, and how shallow to say it is just a
photo op, can't the two of them be given credit for being sincere, do many of you go through life
always thinking the worst of everyone, and being suspect of everyone's move.

We don't live in a country where there are bad things done to us every day, like some do, we have
a cushy life, and yet, many have these narrow feelings of others, why is that, do many of us just
have nothing to do, so they think up nastiness, and are not trusting of others, I wonder, I don't
have time for that, if something bad is done to me, I will deal with it, otherwise, everyday is a good
day, and wills and kate are good people, trying to do good things, simple, not hard to figure out
at all.

speaking of dangerous countries.............. I just hope they will finish the visit to the US without some gun toting crackpot deciding to make a statement about the monarchy or some other ideologue. Gotta tell ya, I won't relax until they leave the US . They have been just terrific , personable, spontaneous , and if this is how their future royal visits to other countries will be.....they as a team have a great future. It cannot be easy being the center of so much attention and shaking so many hands while adapting from one environment (place of visit to another with the ease and grace they demonstrate.

No matter how anyone feels..........they are OUR royals and their safety is paramount......particularly in the gun happy neighbor to the south. Sometimes one thinks that it is safer wrestling aligators in the Amazon....

PS......before someone goes off about US bashing........ you might consider the FACT that the US is NOT a safe and has fostered a culture of violence that is very concerning. The security business must be making zillions.

upbringing'. BTW, how much did that visist cost Canada?
How much did it cost Canadians and how many dead cedar trees to string power and telecomm to your house in Rainbowland?

a) their abdication had NOTHING to do with "honesty". It had to do with choosing a marriage partner that "the firm" did not allow into the family due to rediculous rules and traditions. His wife was totally ostracized by the firm. and died a lonely lady in some hidden care home.

There is a lot we don't know about the "firm".........but they have their own "rules" and are not all tht accepting in general. In fact they are one of the most dysfunctional families on the planet.

Courage is always accompanied by HONESTY. The ONLY honest and courageous member of the family that your post, above, and any objective observer acknowledges as totally disfunctional, was Edward, who placed his natural worth as a human being above the artificial worth of being a member of royalty.

Which, I suppose, is why he connected with the Nazis to try to be appointed King if the Germans won the war. You know, because he valued his natural worth as a human being above royalty.

This thread is starting to get crazy, it's about Wills and Kate, not crap that happened over 70 years ago. There's hardly a person on earth that doesn't have skeletons in the closet if you go back a generation or two.
