CFL light bulbs

I have only one lightbulb (incandescent), which I carry around with me from room to room. Must be the reason for the low hydro bill.

No one but me finds the CFL light bulbs get dangerously hot??

Maybe I got a bad batch.

There are only two people in our house also, and I'm the one who leaves the lights on.

It does tend to make my dear wife crazy. It's not that I do it on purpose.:male:

I have never noticed any exceptional amount of heat coming from a CFL light. As a matter of fact I have unscrewed them while they were on. I expect you are talking about the base of the bulb when you mention intense heat, but I keep my fingers away from that. I wonder how the heat from a CFL light compares with that from an incandescent.

I went with LED last year.The entire house and garage consume around 75W when all the lights are on.

We lived off the grid for a few years and started using CFLs when they first came out and were expensive. However we could run every light in the house, computer, idiot box and satellite dish on batteries with them and used about 300 watts.

That's what we did.

Our house uses very little power off the grid now and we are in the process of doing the same thing to our cottage. We had some green supply but I'm kicking it up a notch.

Anyone know if there are CFL versions in the works for the things that need non-standard sizes: chandeliers, bathroom light bars, etc? I've browsed, but can't find anything.

I will buy cases of the old bulbs once they are about to become illegal. those new things I hope to avoid for a long time
don't care about the power I will pay the bill, You can't tell me they are as good. I tried them, and they are lousy.
